This show is so frustrating!

I'm currently on season 3 on Netflix. I really liked the first two seasons but this one is driving me crazy. It has its moments where it's bearable but then it turns into a b-rated horror movie. The actress who plays spencer is awful this season. She can not play grief/depression to save her life. Please tell me it gets better again!

reply

better-ish.

I wish that I could but that would be a big lie.

The world isn't split into good people and Death Eaters.

reply

I wish I could tell you it gets better but it doesn't.

Once upon a time there was a magical place where it never rained. The end.

reply

Yeah that seems to be the consensus. Is it even worth my time to keep watching or should I just cut my losses?

reply

If I were you, I'd either just prepare myself to be at least somewhat disappointed as you keep watching or just cut your losses and stop watching.

reply

Yeah. The only good reason I can tell someone to keep going is so they can join our club!

I slogged my way through season 3. I enjoyed the finale somewhat but not enough to make me want to immediately start season 4. I've left it on my list but I think it's more I'll watch an episode when I have nothing else to watch.

reply

Yeah the only parts of season 3 I enjoyed were Aria and Spencer's storylines. The show gets much worse and more convoluted. I don't even bother rewatching anything beyond season 2 (I think I rewatched twice).

A couple episodes stood out that were better than the episodes in seasons 1-2. But overall as a season... no.

reply

Personally I think season 4 is better than 3, but that's just my preference.

im surprised no one jumped to troians defense in this thread. 3B in the radley arc is often considered her best work.

Lol I almost wrote it but forgot. I only enjoyed Spencer and Aria in both 3B and 4B so I definitely consider it her best work on the show.

Really? That's interesting - I had a complete opposite reaction. I thought she was really strong in the first two seasons but that whole radley arc turned me off of her... or maybe it was the Toby arc leading up to it. I just remember thinking "what the hell happened? She used to be able to act". It seemed like she was phoning it in a little. Obviously different opinions for all of us :)

reply

i was frustrated with the radley arc cuz it ended with her just betraying her friends, getting her boyfriend, and then everything just happening to work out. but i thought the acting was great. that scene where shes talking to her imaginary versions of her friends in that therapy circle was well done imo.

but different strokes for different folks.

reply

Yep. Troian did great in 3B. It's a favorite. :)

reply

Agreed. The writing was bad, Spencers decisions were bad (both betraying her friends, and just forgiving Toby no questions asked when all he did was say "I did it to protect you") but the acting from Troian was great.

I've got nothing against God, it's his fanclub I can't stand

reply

I was shocked about that too, considering everyone goes crazy over Trojan's acting. Once I read the thread, I was like, "Great, there comes the craziness"

I stopped watching the show mid Season 2. I only started to keep up with it again recently because I got bored.
