Michelle Williams originated the role of Jen Lindley in Dawson's Creek. She started as young as 17 years old, and she had wondered over the course of the show what was wrong with her because her character's screen time had been decreased more and more, in which her co-star, Kerr Smith, kindly assured her that because of it, she'd be the one who'd go on to do greater things as she'd be the one least acknowledged from it. His words turned out to be true. Michelle goes on to receive many nominations for her works in films such as Blue Valentine, My Week with Marilyn, Brokeback Mountain, and much more.
Do you think anyone in PLL will have as successful career as she does? If so? Who would that person be? My money on Troian Bellisario.
My money is on Troian Bellasario except for the fact that she seems more invested in low budget indie movies. Apart from her my guess would be Janel Parrish. Her role as Mona was expanded, I'm guessing because of popularity but still people usually seem to want more of her than they actually get. Plus, she has the looks and talent to shine if she were to be cast in a good, big budget movie. Plus she has background in musicals and dancing so she is definitely not a one trick pony.
^Yep. Michelle being forced to the background on Dawson's Creek always frustrates me because her chapter is amazing. Troian and Janel are the most likely ones to follow that path.
"When life gives you lemons" Jessica D: sleep with their fathers and have secret lemon childrenĀ
Not only that but Katie Holmes was the worst actor on the entire show and continues to be horrible despite how famous she is and the good gigs she still gets.
Trust me, I get it. The way she leans her head down and pouts her lip. I kind of forgot because I have not watched the show in a long time but she was so annoying to watch. Her character also drove me crazy. She was such a horrible person to Jen and it was uncalled for.
She does have a lot of head tilting and lip stuff, but the one that always gets me is the way she darts her eyes back and forth when she's having a serious conversation with Dawson or Pacey. I don't even understand how she does it. It's not like her eyes are all over the place, she keeps them focused on the other person's face, but she rapidly flicks them back and forth from one side to the other while still looking them in the eye. It's unnatural and trying to imitate it makes me dizzy.
One of the biggest things I remember is the way she kissed Pacey. She looks terrible. She also does this awkward smile, bopping her head. I do not know. That is mostly what I remember. I do not remember the eyes thing you are talking about but someone said Ashley Benson did something like that in the beginning of the series or that is what I remember someone saying. I guess I do not notice that too much. Bottom line is though is she is a bad actor and besides having chemistry with the actor that plays Pacey, her character was so annoying throughout the entire relationship, which is why I am shocked they are considered one of the best couples of all time. Then, I remember Pacey's romantic gestures... Swoon!
I like Joey more than most of you guys seem to (although I'm not blind to the shortcomings) but I won't argue with anyone as long as Dawson is listed at the bottom of every list ī¦ī¦
LOL. Before I read your post, the title made me think your question was the opposite - who would be the one to drift into obscurity like Michelle Williams from Destiny's Child!
I have never heard that story about Michelle and Kerr - he definitely got it right! I think it will be Troian. She definitely has Marlene's respect/attention, but the most outspoken fans seem to gravitate toward Ashley and Lucy, and I think Lucy in particular will be the one who people will remember as the "face" of PLL....which is hilarious given the way her character was written, but oh well.
My money is on Troian Bellisario as well, she's amazing - hands down the best actress on the show! Troian is just so damn brilliant as an actress! ENOUGH SAID!
My second choice is Ashley Benson, she will probably have a career kind of like Cameron Diaz and/or Kate Hudson; don't know why I chose those actresses but probably b/c she kind of reminds me of them, acting wise. I could also see Benson doing movies like those 2 actresses I named. I'm not knocking Ashley b/c I really like the movies Diaz/Hudson have done - some maybe hit or miss but for the most part I like their movies. So yeah Ashley Benson is my second pick.
*** But Troian Bellisario is the TOP CHOICE to be the "Michelle Williams of the show".. Michelle is a fantastic actress and has really done amazingly well for herself.
I wish I could agree with everything you said but unless Ashley keeps getting those minor parts in movies and try to elevate herself to bigger parts, then she probably will continue on TV or have a career like her on screen mother on Pretty Little Liars and just play a mother on a future teen drama show. That always happens. It is hard to have success in movies even in the level of Kate Hudson or Cameron Diaz because they are household names, even if they are mostly known for cheesy rom-coms. There are very few people that have been lucky like that. Katie Holmes, Michelle Williams, Blake Lively, that is all I could think of right now. Some of these actors, Katie and Blake specifically, have pissed me off with their lame acting in the shows Dawson's Creek and Gossip Girl and Ashley has impressed me so much in comparison yet I doubt she will have that career. Although, never say never because she might be one of the lucky ones.
I think Troian takes herself way too seriously to be a movie star but hopefully, she will be a Oscar nominee in an excellent indie movie. Hopefully, she will do some producing or directing of her own as well and get recognition.

Yeah I get what you're saying how Kate Hudson/Cameron Diaz are household names and Ashley Benson has only been kind of "side kicks" when on the Big Screen. I have always been impressed w/Ashley Benson even when she was on the soap opera Days of Our Lives as Abigail Deveraux in which her character had parents who were a well-known "super-couple" back in the day. They were Jack Deveraux and Jennifer Horton - I watched back then and man they were such a POPULAR SUPER COUPLE that everybody loved, so Ashley Benson got story lines b/c of her character's parents and Ashley did a WONDERFUL job playing this role. I just hope Ashley Benson surprises us all and does have a fantastic career, she really deserves it and she's a versatile actress who can do both comedy and drama.
As for Troian she can do ANYTHING, this girl is such an AMAZING actress, but as you said I could see her directing, producing, etc. Its like whatever Troian puts her mind to do you know it will be something SPECTACULAR. Troian was made to be a STAR and I would love to see her nominated for an Oscar one day as well.
I so badly want Ashley to play a Lorelai Gilmore type character, like from Gilmore Girls a few years later obviously when she is old enough for that kind of a role. I always imagined something like that would work out because she is funny and holds her own in emotional scenes. One of the consistent posters on the forum says they hate Hanna because Ashley Benson has a horrible personality. I do not see that but I still would rather have someone do their job right versus being a charming celebrity figure rather the other way around, so that just sounds ridiculous. I hate when I get attached to actors based on their interviews then realizing that they suck at their actual job. It feels weird supporting them but despising them all at once because they do such a terrible job, so that is weird. I have a life, so I am glad I can at least be impressed with Ashley Benson on screen when she is playing another one of her diverse roles. I like that she always goes for something different. She just needs to pick serious projects.
Trojan will be amazing in what ever she does. You can not really predict what will come of her but hopefully it will be so amazing because she is very passionate in real life and seems to care about things a lot deeper. She is a little too good for a show like Pretty Little Liars and you can tell she got bored of this role. It kind of became useless. She will probably do something more meaningful later on.
Hahaha none. When Michelle Williams played Jen, she already seemed like a grown up. All of the young actors, even Sasha, have seemed like kids from the start.
