Stop depicting the UK as relevant
It's so 20th century!
shareYeah... start depicting China instead. Transformers did it first!
shareHaha, agreed. UK used to be relevant until they gave up most of the shit they conquered (hence the end of the British Empire) and now China is expanding instead with manmade islands, exploiting/re-colonizing Africa and the likes. Never teach a communist country how to beat you at your own game.
shareIf someone wants to get forward-thinking, they will be promoting Uganda as the next unrivaled world power. Once they find that Vibranium, it's all history from there.
shareThey did found it. They just keep it for themselves. They even went as far as building vibranium-tech holographic camouflage dome so the USA can't find out. Assholes.
shareThey haven't been relevant since they were stupid enough to embrace Democratic Socialism (which is a contradiction in terms) and became one of the EU's piggy banks.
shareYou can thank Harry Potter movies and BritPop for all of that.
It's ironic how in America, the general population still views anyone with a British accent as being super smart and sophisticated. That's why wankers like Piers Morgan, Simon Cowell, and James Corden are taken serious here for some reason. Even in a lot of US TV dramas they'll cast a Black British person to play a character who is ultra sophisticated and mysterious.
James Bond too.
shareI forgot to add PBS' penchant for featuring British costume dramas. Here in L.A. my PBS station plays more British programming than original American programming 3 to 1. All of the local programming is either news related or documentaries. It wasn't always this way as back in the 80s and beforehand PBS would often play American Playhouse and feature live American theater performances from Broadway and Chicago.
shareThe UK is pretty relevant to the Hollywood acting world, which is why they keep choosing UK actors to play America's classic superhero and comic book characters.
shareThe British and Commonwealth has a better support system (Equity) that supports the creative arts and actors WAY MORE than the SAG or any number of smaller actors unions throughout the continental US. In fact, you could argue that British theater is a lot more advanced and sophisticated than the US/Broadway industry which is more tailored towards commercial musicals that are based on pop novels and Disney movies.
