How good was Matthew Broderick?

It was a welcome surprise to see Matthew Broderick in this movie. I had forgotten how funny he is and I thought he stole every scene he was in.

He's a righteous dude.

reply

lol, nice.

I like how he is fine with his legacy being known as Ferris Bueller despite all the work he's done over the decades.

reply

He was okay for a person who murdered two women by driving on the wrong side of the road while drunk.

But hey, he paid a $100 fine when he killed the two women, so it seems fitting that this movie should make about the same in profit. Yes, I am fun at parties.

reply

This is so wrong. It wasn't a DUI, it was foggy as hell. Although I've read that he has been quite dismissive of the family and doesn't seem to feel remorseful so I don't care for him.

I suppose he was good insofar as he played an insufferable character who treated human beings as means to an end, but experienced no consequences for his actions. The character who played his wife was identical. Awful characters, and a shame to see Broderick reduced to playing that role when he can do so much more. I have a feeling he did it because he didn't have to leave his house. (I think the house where all of his scenes were shot was his and Sara Jessica Parker's actual house on Long Island.)

Interesting, you see them all over Montauk in the summer. The Jewish population of Long Island has declined outside of a few Orthodox neighborhoods as its getting so expensive there.

I thought the OP was asking a question, then he answers his own question.

reply

His character was very Laird. Like lasagna.
