(Spoiler) Read the book to know the whole story

Those saying why didn’t the kids leave need to read the book - Whatever Mother Says...: A True Story of a Mother, Madness and Murder (St. Martin's True Crime Classics) by Wensley Clarkson. Warning it’s very graphic and if you read a Child Named It this book is 10 times worse so be prepared.

Those who don’t like to read or want to see the story told from a Sons point of view who actually took part in the torture of his sisters and to help you understand why he didn’t run and did what his mom says watched Evil Lives Here The Face of My Torturer Season 6 episode 2. Again be prepared for graphic stories of violence.

They’re also interviews with a surviving sister on Wicked Attraction S2.E4 A Mother's Love.

The kids were basically brainwashed not to leave because the oldest sister who did run and tell police was returned home. She spent the next few YEARS chained under the table as an example of what happened if you disobeyed mom. The kids were even interviewed by CPS but it was different times I think 70s or 80s and their mom was present for the interview. She would shake her head No or yes telling the kids how to answer.
