It would have made a hell of a lot more sense if they lived way out

The entire neighborhood is to blame for what happened to them. After the really bad abuse started the kids can be looked down on, too.

they had PLENTY OF CHANCES to get help [and I don't mean the beginning] When the mom was 'gone for days' after she shot the first girl, the other girl could have GONE RUNNING OUT TO GET HELP instead of tinkering with CAR KEYS, especially the boy who comes home to carnage and his sister being shot and he doesn't even THINK of running back out to get help?
