More important than There Will Be Blood?

Do you think The Master will have more lasting cinematic importance, as far as characters, filmmaking goes, than There Will Be Blood?

"The Master" is heavier and unlike anything in all of cinema. In terms of grandiosity and pure greatness, it will withstand the test of time better than "There Will Be Blood". It's like "2001: A Space Odyssey" a film that rose to greatness years after its initial release.

Eyes Wide Shut deserves more recognition.

Interesting question. There are many subjective factors to consider, of course. For instance; does the proposed biopic/legacy of an infamous "religion" founder resonate more than the fictional re - enactment of the birth of a discovery that kickstarted the industrial age and changed the world forever.

Character wise, I believe the master clearly possess a broader spectrum of characters and examines many of the same themes Blood does; religion, greed, power, etc.
While Blood focuses on a man's distaste for his fellow man, The Master, IMO deals with man's pursuit of a compatible, like-minded companion (albeit having the same element of the aforementioned anti-socialism)

What you're really asking is which is the better picture. Which is the parallel to asking which is the better picture? : 2001 or Eyes wide shut?
And the short answer is..how was your day?

One day a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets.

I think the message is more lasting and profound. You could argue it even transcends meaning, that it expresses a kind of ultimate truth.
