Was pretty good. No masterpiece as a lot stated

I see this word Masterpiece thrown around way way to often on this site. Was "The Master " good? Yes it was but I found many holes in it and although interesting on a lot of levels I also found many parts a bit boring. Philip Seymour Hoffman was excellent as he always was .but a masterpiece this was not. Every1 is entitled to their opinion but IMO this word needs to stop flying around because a film was done well.

THERES NO ROOM IN MY CIRCUS TENT FOR YOU !!!!

The reception from non critics hasn't been all that great. I agree people are far to quick to throw around terms like masterpiece though.

im curious to hear what you liked about the film, what you loved about it, what you disliked and hated about it.....i love different opinions but theyre useless unless you at least give some energy/effort into backing it up.......what scenes would you trim or outright cut to minimize the boredom what would you add?.....and what holes?...ive havent heard anyone discuss holes do you mean plot holes or a different kind of hole?....i havent made up my mind if this a really good film with A+ acting and cinematography or a borderline masterpiece or a bonafide masterpiece....so id like to hear a more detailed opinion of someone who isnt quick to fall in love with it but isnt criminally downplaying it either

Oh great, now it's my dick that's killing me

One the overlooked things from this movie that it flopped.

Budget $32 million[2]
Box office $28.3 million

While it was loved by critics, the mainstream public probably didn't share this view. I think possible reasons was the film was long, and in parts maybe a bit too slow. Also the topic was probably a bit too controversial, and also was not a story the public was interested in seeing.

So while I loved the film. I'm willing to suggest that it was not a masterpiece in alot of people's eyes.
