You care -- when you wave it around like that, you're trying to convince yourself and intimidate others into not arguing. Actually not caring would consist of posting only your opinion without the chest-beating. And you need to learn the difference between fact and opinion.

Oh, I agree. I passed this one up for way too long and finally got around to watching it after Inherent Vice renewed my interest in PTA. This was his only film besides Hard Eight I had yet to see. I can't believe I waited so long to watch it. A true masterpiece. I liked it even more than There Will Be Blood. I'm dumbfounded by the hate for this movie.

Both Phoenix and Hoffman were outstanding. Maybe Hoffman's best performance ever? I think years from now this movie will get the credit it's due. PTA is just ahead of his time in some ways, IMO. It's a shame he gets trashed by so many people lately. It doesn't change reality though. I think he sleeps just fine at night.
