LOL! Yeah I know what you mean. Part of the problem with being able to separate the roles is because Leighton had 'Blair's curly dark hair' even in this role?! So yeah it did look a little weird.

The local paper gave it a pretty good review, but mentioned the other three main actors as giving great performances. I personally thought Leighton Meester did an amazing job.

She's a good actress and singer, so I'm glad she's trying not to be typecast.. though it already sounds like she is in the fact you can't get over her not being Blair! Poor Leighton..
By the way, I really enjoyed the back and forth comments and couldn't stop laughing! I also can't stand Johnny Depp anymore, so maybe him sticking to Pirates will be good for him.
I saw CS late this morning expecting a borefest, but I was genuinely impressed by Meester's performance. She added much-needed levity to the picture as the naive beauty-queen-turned-crooner, and had great chemistry with Hedlund. Her line "I'm so excited I don't want to even pee in the toilet" upon meeting Kelly was priceless.
And now I know why one of her tracks received a GG nomination, as she wasn't too bad at belting out a few songs either. :)

I am pleasantly surprised with Leighton here.
She's quite good in GG, but in a movie with lots of singing, I seriously had doubts.
She turned out good. Agree with other users, her part with Hedlund was the best thing from this movie.

I confess that I had never heard of the young lady before this movie, But quite enjoyed her as an aspiring country singer. I hope to see more of her in future movies.

This is also the first time for me, and I thought she was quite impressive. Perfect casting as far as I am concerned. I'll be interested in seeing her in other work.

She looks like a young, more voluptuous Winona Ryder to me. She acts as well as a young Ryder, too.
Her upcoming movie with Adam Brody and Catherine Keener sounds possibly promising....

I found that watching her performance in this movie and the roommate I could still see a whole lot of Blair from gossip girl... She's like a more annoying looking version of Kristin Stewart... they have maybe 4 expressions, 4 tones of voice, and 1 character they use for EVERYTHING they do... just my opinion however...lol
