Garrett Hedlund

Truly, he is the only thing that makes the movie anything other than a total disaster. He should get a medal of some sort for being able to completely carry the movie. He was the star in my opinion. I pretty much smirked most of my way through the film, and then when it came to his emotional scene at the end in his truck I actually had the grin wiped from my face. I hope he gets the credit he deserves despite the rest of the film being a total pile of steaming crap.

(ps was Tim Macgraw's character supposed to be the 'Tom Ford of Nashville'? What the hell? Was was his wardrobe and tailoring budget 20x everyone elses?)

I totally agree. I saw this because a friend of mine was raving about him and his voice. She took the soundtrack into work and we listened to it all day. I wish more of his songs were on there. She said he sang a lot in the movie, so I went to see it and fell in love with his voice.

reply

I was surprised that Garrett Hedlund actually has a very good singing voice since I could have sworn that his voice was dubbed.

reply

He was definitely the best thing in the movie..he made Meester look so good..and that voice..singing or not singing..he can create a character worth watching.

There's a second soundtrack:

"More Music from Country Strong"

This contains every single one of his songs plus all of Leighton Meester's songs...

I am free. But life is so cheap.

reply

I know! I was quite annoyed when they hardly included any of his songs on the original, but thank god they put the rest on the second soundtrack. I really could have done without any of Meester's songs though. sweet jesus her voice is irritating.

Your comment, "He should get a medal of some sort for being able to completely carry the movie." made me laugh so hard because it is so true. If it weren't for him and the music I probably would've walked out. He was great.

He was awesome! so good looking! I was in lust thru out the whole movie watching him

Everyone did great with the material they were given, to be honest.

^I would like to challenge your statement in regards to leighton meester.

Beau had, I think we can all agree, the absolute worst taste in women in the history of humanity. Between chiles and kelly it's absurd. Who knew all you needed to be was a self-indulgent train wreck or a complete moron in order to land a guy like that. I've clearly been doing it wrong this whole time.

reply

I think we should agree to disagree because that conversation will lead nowhere.

As talented and amazing as I think Garrett Hedlund is, Beau is kind of an ass. An ass with good intentions at times, but still an ass.

reply

vk325, They all did great yes! I thought it was a very moving, incredibly under rated, very good movie!

reply

I wouldn't say he carried the movie because all of the stars did their part, but he certainly did an amazing job. He was a much better actor and singer than I could have anticipated. I was shocked to learn that his accent wasn't real. I have lived in the south my entire life and he sounded as real as they come.

^^^^ Agreed. I had seen him in all his previous movies but wasn't wildly impressed with him until I saw Tron, which he was very good in, but this movie he was unbelievably great in. His voice is phenomenal & I never liked country music before, but I sure like the songs he, Leighton, & Gwyneth all sang. And especially the ones Garrett sang.

You are so right! He was outstanding and rivetting to watch. I loved his voice, and will look for that second soundtrack. AND I'd better see Tron!

reply

He has always been underrated. I followed his work and have been waiting for him to finally get the opportunity to showcase more of his talent. So GLAD he nailed it with "Country Strong". Not only is he a natural actor but also a musician with his raw, authentic voice. That emotional scene also grabbed me (he did really well on "Tron Legacy" too). I can't wait to see more of him.
