It's ironic, she sings a song like Country Strong and then...spoilers
kills herself.
I mean the lyrics of this big title song totally contradicts the last ten minuets of the movie.
You, couch. You, fired. Caio bitches!

I was kind of thinking the same thing...I'm still not sure how I feel about the ending.
shareI think the ending was brilliant (though I was hoping they would save her and just admit that she needed to go back to rehab).
She was a broken woman, yeah she had concurred Dallas but what did you expect? Things would be all smiley and happy for her for the rest of her life? People don't get fixed that easily in real life.
I thought the same thing too was shocked she commited Suicide
She's a real carpenters dream "Flat as a board and needs a screw"
I think the ending was surprising but not shocking all things considered. She had not been ready to leave rehab for one. While she clearly loved her husband very much, he could no longer allow himself to feel the same. I think with her drinking there were many times when she would sober up and act like herself and he would allow himself to hope that she would change and then she would start drinking again. Maybe that's how she got pregnant and then lost the baby.
Before the show, James clearly used the past tense when he said he loved her. He said he used to love her so much. I think she knew then that is was never going to be what they had before and she wanted to hear the familiar nickname he would call her when he still loved her. And he obliged for one last time.
What did she have to live for then? Beau had found another love and her marriage was over. So she gave one last, great show before going away.
The Eraser room does two things: Cleans erasers and takes our innocence.
Isn't that the point?
shareThis movie had no clue what it was about--
it was a mishmash of conflicting ideas and the director, writer, and producer should have to watch it every day for the rest of their lives...
"...That's the beauty of argument, Joey. If you argue correctly, you're never wrong..."

Yes, I kept thinking the same thing.
shareThis movie left a little to be desired with the directing, but I thought it was great. The ending took me by surprise but it worked for the movie. My only complaint was that it felt very rushed after they showed her singing not one, not two, but three songs in her concert. And they just brush over the fact that she died. Kinda upset about that.
shareMy thoughts exactly. It's like the lyrics of the song meant nothing, which, in a movie all about music and musicians, doesn't work very well.

i thought the same thing about kelly. country strong should have indicated someone who overcame her addiction and went on to live a good, addiction-free life with her career back on track, but......................
i don't think the title was about kelly at all. it was about beau. he was country strong. didn't let the lure of fame derail him from who he really was and what he knew would make him happy.
I agree, the main character was Beau. We start out the movie with him, and we finish with him.
shareThe ending ruined it. It seemed forced and tacked on for no good reason. I guess the filmmakers thought the final product was weak so they added some cheap theatrics in an attempt to increase the dramatic impact. They failed.
