The title? *SPOILERS*

First of all I loved this movie and I thought it was a very strong movie in showing Kelly's depression and the acting was amazing. I was actually quite surprised when Kelly killed herself because of the title being "Country Strong" I was expecting her to bounce back and become the star she once was. I really expected her to leave her husband and reinvent her career and grow some self esteem. All of these things would have been what the title implies but in the end she just kills herself. Now I know that depression is a serious mental illness that can make an otherwise rational person make unwise and harmful decisions and alcoholism is very very difficult to overcome but with all that said the movie isn't called Country Weak. It's called Country Strong. I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts were on the title because it doesn't make much sense to me. Once again I loved this movie, and I'm ok with a movie that doesn't have a happy ending but the title kind of implies one. I also feel liked the movie would have made more money if it had had an inspirational and triumphant ending than a sad one that leaves you feeling like you watched her struggle for two hours just to watch her end it all.

I pretty much agree with you. I thought that ending was realistic but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people were angered by it, especially when, as you said, they've just watched her struggle for the duration of the movie only to end it all. Not to mention the way the movie is advertised. As I was watching, I couldn't help but flash back to the trailer. From what I remember it looked pretty feel goody and it really looked as though they were doing all they could to replace her with Leighton's character. I guess it's a hard movie to advertise but still, the movie itself was a lot different to how it looked on the trailer. I never really got the impression she was strong at all. Of course her husband mentioned that she used to be, but this mentally ill, alcoholic version of her certainly wasn't. Sadly the one moment in which she finally looked like she had gained strength and would come out on top was when she'd probably already made the decision to kill herself.
