Shake that thing

I really like Gwynneth Paltrow. I saw preview clips of "shake that thing". So I was up for this film. But it was depressing, weak and disappointing! Country Strong was weak. When I saw the eagerly anticipated "shake that thing" they cut the hell out of it.

Re watch it, bet you'll like it better, I felt somewhat similar the first viewing, now, after seeing the third viewing, it's one I absolutely LOVE!!

I might have to do that. Her death and the cutting of that great song were disappointing.

I've seen it three times now as well, and I have no idea why. It doesn't get any better. It's a horrible combination of bad writing, bad acting, and that Gwyneth Paltrow's character really misses the mark. I know what she is supposed to be - but she isn't. She doesn't come across as a broken addict or a past superstar trying to redeem herself; she comes across as a mentally challenged three-year-old.

The music and the singing abilities are the only things that somewhat save this film. I also thought Tim McGraw's acting was good and he played his character pretty well.

I normally don't listen to country music (except for Willie Nelson) but the music was the only thing I found good about this sorry movie.

I've seen it again and it definitely improves on more viewing. I don't think I'd keep the baby bird in, but everything else in the movie works well. Gwyneth Paltrow plays the role of someone who pushes herself to be the super-country-star very well. In real life, she seems to spread herself pretty thin, too. But definitely managing it all much better.
