Not a very good film at all

Wow just watching this film now and it is really bad. I know that it didn't get stellar reviews but I thought I would enjoy it enough, but it's just a bit too melodramatic. The singing is good but the dialogue and the scenes are all so contrived. I can't even believe that Paltrow, Hedlund, and Meester agreed to do this.

It could have been a good film but they just put in so many cliches. Very disappointing. And I definitely think Meester and Hedlund were the strongest part of the film. The film should have been about them not Kelly Canter. While I'm not a fan of GP at all, I do believe she can act and she has a nice singing voice, but I felt she was trying too hard in this film. She just didn't seem as natural as she normally does in her roles. It could have been the way the character was written. Meester and Hedlund's characters just felt so much more genuine and believable.

I thought the movie was just awful. The story line is so typical as always of a country singer gone drunk or drug addict. All I heard from the past years reviews was how great Paltrow was...well she can be a good actress but it takes a movie script as well to take the whole thing anywhere. The movie had me like ....What the heck is this mess, and its like we are suppose to feel sorry for the singer gone drunk and then be mad at the people that tried to use her. I think the only thing I liked was our local anchor guy in Nashville Nick having a cameo in the movie...lol The movie in general just stunk.

The only movie I have ever enjoyed her in was Sliding Doors. I actually bought that movie. She was great in it along with the rest of the stellar cast.

she is selecting the wrong scripts. This is an example of that. This movie should have featured at least one actual country music star who could actually Sing.

I have watched the movie several times since I commented here to see if maybe I missed something....Nope,.... I didnt, the movie is so bad that each time I watch it I cant watch it to the end anymore. Its that bad and I love watching movies I like over and over again. And BTW Tim McGraw needs to stick to singing because when he has a part that was as important as this was he needs to truly act better. He just doesnt show enough really movie quality emotions. If it was for little parts in The Blindside and Sandra Bullock carrying the movie to greatness imo he wouldnt even have been noticed in it. I wish they would stop pushing him to act because he is not a good actor.

This is a boring and depressing film, and Paltrow is not convincing as a country music star--she doesn't even have the "look"- she has the wrong type of face.
