Has that ever really happened in modern country music?

You know, what happened to Kelly?

They're pretty boring people, mostly. lol Even the very huge stars.... I can't think of one who has gone through something like that. And I certainly can't think of one who went as far as her downward spiral did.

I'm not saying there hasn't been on in recent years who hasn't been in rehab/dealing with substance abuse issues, but I can't think of one in recent history who has been THAT much of a trainwreck or has been at death's door like that.

Now in pop? Very common.

Have you ever heard of Mindy McCready? look her up, she is about as close to Kelly Canter as you can get!

And she ended up killing herself too. So yeah - Country Strong could easily have taken storylines out of Mindy's story.

And Mindy isn't the first to go down that path......there are a lot of stars in country music who've taken to drink and/or drugs (or even sex and food addictions). Elvis Presley, Johny Cash, George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Kris Kristofferson, Keith Whitley, Hank Williams, HW Jr, Merle Haggard, Glen Campbell, Waylon Jennings.......good Lord I could go on and on!

The problem is that country music is still seen by a lot of people as the innocent child of the entertainment world; I don't know why....it's as tough an industry as any other.....maybe tougher because of the way it's seen.
