Great message for girls

Watched this movie last night and the message that it left me with is that girls should give up their careers, however promising, to be with their boyfriends even if all they want to do is sit on the beach and write songs.

I just hope Chiles is happy with her choice when her boyfriend inevitably leaves her for someone else.

Kelly's motto was that fame and love can't co-exist. She longed for a normal life, hence her asking James if he ever wonders what life would be like if they had stayed in Bristol. Chiles chose love over fame, and therefor didn't make the same mistake as Kelly. I personally don't see what's wrong with it, seeing where fame ultimately lead Kelly. Fame can't fulfill a person like love can.

Well, to be fair...I think what's happening in the end is both the boy and the girl are going to spend a quiet year writing songs and performing in a small town, then they're going to record an album together later.

All in all a rather lame film and story, though, so who knows what it all means.

I think she saw what fame and money did too Kelly and was scared she would end up like that. Kelly did tell her "without love theres nothing" so she remembered that and chose love over fame and fortune.

but you can make fame and love co-exist.

i mean look at Tim Macgraw and Faith hill.

some people want it all, but i don't want nothing at all
if it ain't you, baby, if i ain't got you, baby
some people want diamond rings, some just want everything
BUT EVERYTHING MEANS NOTHING if i ain't got you...

it doesn't matter how many strangers are cheering your name if the person who knows and loves you for who you are isn't there.

and, as someone said above, i don't think they'll spend forever sitting around; i took her showing up as a sign that she wanted to write a quality album and have a respectable career and a strong relationship rather than a bubble gum album that's popular for a year then leaves her with nothing.

The robot falls in love.

One character making a personal choice does not equal a 'message' that applies to all situations.

Since they're all fictional characters, we can't definitively say what will happen in the future.

Born when she kissed me, died when she left me, lived whilst she loved me

While I'm sure there are some situations where fame and love CAN coexist, the 'theme' in this movie was that they can't. And Kelly was the one who stressed that point more than once, which we can assume she knew from experience, and look how her life turned out. Also, I'm sure Chiles went on for a bit, but eventually had to remember who was the one who helped her on stage in the first place when she choked (and without him she, arguably, wouldn't have been recognized at all). They both brought out better sides of each other.

Also, I'm sure if she had decided to continue recording and whatnot, there would be people on the other side criticizing that decision-- giving up a meaningful life with someone you love to make mainstream pop country music, possibly following the footsteps of a self-destructive star who could barely stay sober long enough for one concert and ended up taking her own life.

It's the same thing as assuming that Beau will screw her over for moving with him.

I think you missed the point.
