An insult

I grew up in the country, and grew up on country music, and found this movie to be an insult not only to the industry, but also to those who are fans of the genre. The women who produced and directed the film are obviously clueless as to the heart and soul of my musical heroes and consequently, they have created the absolute worst movie about country music that I have ever seen! It was unwatchable, and i felt embarassed for the actors who had to recite the ridiculous dialogue in it. A major disappointment and a waste of $ to rent it.

Well I grew up on country music too (not in the country though) but I don't think that makes me an expert at saying what is and isn't depicted correctly in the country music genre.

From what I've read about the industry (as cut throat as rock n roll and Hollywood), and considering recent tragedies (Mindy McCready anyone?)I think it came off pretty realistic.

That said, I'd have enjoyed it a lot more if Gwyneth wasn't in it - because I cannot stand ANYTHING about that woman - but that's just me. I will give her some small credit for having a reasonable singing voice (although I wonder just how polished a turd that part actually was).
