Thought it was a great movie

I finally watched this last night thought it would be some dumb country music movie I really thought it was a great movie.Oh and Garrett Hedlund is a Hottie big time!

She's a real carpenters dream "Flat as a board and needs a screw"

"Great" may be an overstatement but I did enjoy this film and did think the performances were indeed truly great.

Now that the traditional bashers who go wandering around from film to film seem to be gone, I think this is being recognized as a good film.

Life, every now and then, behaves as though it had seen too many bad movies

I loved the movie and the music! Very surprising since I'm not a fan of country music. Loved that all the actors sang. Surprised Tim McGraw didn't sing since he's the only actual country singer, but love the song with him and Gwyneth during the credits.

I am not a country music fan but this movie is so good. Garrett Hedlund is a great singer, handsome and has chemistry with both actresses. Why does this film have such a low score? Gwyneth's story line was sad though. Along with The Thing Called Love and Sweet Dreams, these are country music movies I recommend.

Agree! Great movie, and I loved the music. Downloaded the soundtrack as soon as I finished watching...can't get the song "Country Strong" out of my head now!

It was definitely a decent movie. I don't get the hatred, it isn't the most amazing movie ever but it has its merits. The performances were quite good and the music was as well. Everyone could actually sing in the movie and I think Gwyneth was well cast. I don't understand the hatred towards her playing a country singer. I mean....she's a *beep* actor...they do tend to play characters who are not like themselves...at least they're supposed to. She basically seemed like a messed up kinda skanky Faith Hill or Carrie Underwood but with less talent (not to be mean at all). She's like the older, country Britney Spears.

Probably not 'great' but nowhere near as bad as the 22% rating on Rotten Tomatoes suggests. The only things that I didn't like were some parts of the script - which were a bit too flowery and fancy to really work. I think it maybe could have used some different direction, because there was just something missing with the way the story went. I think the writing for Beau's character needed some tweaking too.

Performance-wise though, the movie is pretty good. Leighton Meester steals the show with such a sweet and genuine performance. She's such an underrated actress and it's a shame that she didn't get launched onto anything major after Gossip Girl ended. The other three leads were solid too - and the singing was stellar. The movie loves country music and will let you know it.
