Did I miss something?

Why did Robert kill her and what did the locket have to do with it?

reply

I was wondering the same thing.

reply

I kept waiting for an explanation... and then nothing. The episode felt incomplete.

reply

What a lousy episode! No answers at all regarding the case. While I know they are trying to wind down the series and give everyone their HEAs, at least finish the *beep* case!

reply

sadly this week's ep is like last week's...last week the killer only appeared for like several seconds and his motivates for killing those people were never properly explained.

Even though the writers have really been dropping the ball for a long time now...but I have to say that this season has been overall 1 of the worst seasons ever for R&I...I can only think of 2 or 3 eps this season that were actually memorable to me and written really well (and they're all Maura-centric eps). Maybe it's because this is the last season for the show so the writers are probably more preoccupied with wrapping things up & tying loose ends rather than focusing on the actual cases...I enjoy watching the characters' personal lives sometimes, but it's annoying when all this personal drama takes away from the actual crimes/cases, this is still a police procedural and crime show afterall.

You are all right. It was stupid that they didn't give any answers. I'll give you my theory. One of the brothers (the one who was sent to Europe the day after the killing, most likely) gave her the necklace because he liked her. The brother (Robert?) who killed her didn't like this because she was too low class to be his brother's girl friend. When she refused to give it back, he hit her with the shovel, killed her, and took the necklace. He probably put it in a drawer or something and forgot it. Then he came across it and thought it was safe to get rid of it after 40 years. But the father bought it and confronted him, so he had to kill him.

Boo Hoo! Let me wipe away the tears with my PLASTIC hand!--Lindsey McDonald (Angel)

Sounds like a good theory to me! I just didn't get all the time spent on the locket and then nothing. No motive. No explanation. Thanks for the insight!

reply

I like your theory as well.

reply

That makes a lot of sense.

reply

Makes sense. Bu the part puzzles me: why the heck does he sell a locket? This family is loaded to the top. He would simply throw it away, doesn't need the pocket change.

reply

Maybe he did throw it away and some maid found it and sold it? Then the father found out she worked for the family.

reply

@ jabell <<< Perfect. Wish they could've taken this to use for one of those 15-20 second case wrap-up/verbal explanations.

reply

Your theory sounds good to me. It would have been nice if they had taken the time to tell us why he killed this little girl and why the other brother left the country. Why didn't the killer just throw the locket away, after all of those years, why sell it? I guess they're in a hurry to get the series over with. I'm glad it wasn't just me that was annoyed with this episode.
