I want to like Nina...

I gotta say, I want to like Nina so much and I did before she became more of a central character. The person who plays her just isn't a very good actress. Like however many weeks ago when she was singing Natural Woman with Maura and didn't even hold the mic up? And I don't think she has a natural chemistry with Jordan/Frankie.. I think he's try but she just seems uncomfortable.

reply

I completely agree. She's almost as bad an actor as Jordan/Frankie

reply

LOL maybe that's why they make a good couple jk 

reply

What?? An interracial couple with no chemistry? You lie.

reply

Boo on this vaguely racist post!

reply

I feel the character Nina is pretty blah and they keep trying to have her in the 'group' and then brought on this relationship with Frankie. Or was that to give Frankie some kind of "ending" since the series is?

I know the showrunner or whoever said she wasn't Frost's replacement, but she clearly was.

reply

I hate to say it, but physically they are totally mismatched. Not racially, that's just fine. She looks considerably older than him. Bad clothes, bad hair. And she's not much of an actress which would overcome all the above, probably. Their scenes seemed forced. She pretty, but they are doing everything to disguise it, IMO.

reply

I disagree about the age difference. I think she looks younger but they certainly like to show her arms! I think she'd do better as a Kiki-type character, just popping in and out when needed. Maybe then I wouldn't notice her bad actin as much. But I've got to be honest, over at least this last season, the whole cast, aside from Sasha Alexander, had really been doing some terrible acting. Maybe because the writing is bad and motivations don't make sense to the actors but everything feels... off. Like nobody is reacting in normal ways and so the acting is bad. I don't think I'll miss this show. I'll watch it through the finale but the chemistry is gone. You wouldn't think one person would make such a difference in chemistry but since the actor who played Frost died, the series has declined.

reply

Note to people who are wondering who "Kiki" is - she's a character on Major Crimes and is married to one of the major crimes team; Louie
Provenza.
She bugs me sometimes because she fell in love with Louie and immediately started to try to change him. However, she's recurring so I can shrug it off.

Dr Jason Bull: Don't give up on people, they're all we've got.

reply

Kiki is Vince Korsak's bride.

reply

Another mismatch

reply

I love Patrice and Provenza.

reply

Louie Provenza on Major Crimes is in a relationship with a woman named Patrice.

reply

LOL wrong show mate...like someone else pointed out, Kiki is Korsak's wife, she was his "life coach" before they got married a few episodes back.

reply

Provenza is married to his 6th wife, Patrice, whom he met when he arrested her granddaughter for murder. Her family for some reason doesn't care for him. Theirs is also an interracial marriage: she is black.

reply

alix, i never watched the show for the acting as it's always been pretty bad. i liked the relationship/friendship between jane and maura as they were so opposite on the surface and very funny together.

I think she gets a bad rap because I (maybe others) am more used to the tech girls as being more eccentric.
Abby - NCIS
Garcia - Criminal Minds
Felicity - Green Arrow

At least those are the ones I can think of.
But I completely agree that the Frankie/Nina relationship doesn't work.
I liked that girl he had met just before the wedding.

reply

I think that's a good point you raised...I gotta admit, Nina is rather bland and boring compared to those 3 other characters you mentioned...I like tech girls that are a bit more eccentric & quirky, it makes them more interesting IMO.
It's not that I dislike Nina or anything...I just find her dull and boring and frankly I don't really care about her.

reply

But I cannot get over that ridiculous wig that moves back and forward on her head

reply

LOL it's her real hair apparently

reply

Sorry I don't believe that for a minute

reply

LOL I've seen photos of the actress in reality and she has exactly the same hairstyle...sometimes she ties her hair up, but her hair is naturally that big and curly...you can go google Idara Victor's photos if you don't believe me 

reply

Just looked up Idara Victor's photo and wow! she's so much better-looking than she is as Nina on R&I. Don't know whether Nina wears a wig or not; natural hair looks much better IMO. Also not a fan of glow in the dark lipstick on Nina or anyone else. In real life she looks like someone Frankie would have the hots for; as Nina, she doesn't look like someone that he'd be attracted to. Just my opinion...

reply

I like her hair much better in her IMDB photo.

And I don't think they have any chemistry as a couple.

reply

I think the issue is that she has no character. The others are well-written with personalities and fitting experiences while Nina is that girl who's dating Frankie and, every now and then, we get a clumsy reminder of her losing somebody she loved. That morgue scene, with the parents identifying their daughter's body waspure cringe.

reply

I think I'd have liked her more had they never teased us with the prospect of Frankie and Maura getting together a few seasons ago. I wanted them together so much. He's so sweet and kind and tends to be a little dopey. She needs someone like him.

You forgot your thingy!- Eddie, Empire Records

reply

I just felt their relationship was too forced. First they date, sleep together and then poof, lets get married. I think it would have been better off if they just moved in together first. They may have known each other for awhile, but when you are in a relationship, you don't just get married after a couple of months. They didn't even feel that way until recently. If the show went on for another season then it would make more sense to get married.

reply

i can't believe nina would even be interested in or take a second look at frankie outside of the work place. to actually sleep with him is awful enough but to marry him is truly a tv move. everything that happened in the last three shows was an obvious and boring "wrap up". i forgot the other brother even existed and the worst was jane acting like a twelve year old over mr fbi!!! it was completely out of character.
