They might not have kissed...

But going to Paris, considered by many to be the most romantic city on Earth, for a whole month together??? Come on! What more of a giant wink can they give us?

reply

Friends. No kiss. They're not lezzies. Quit fantasizing.

reply

They are good friends. They are both heterosexual by canon (the books, plus Maura was married, Jane was engaged and pregnant, etc).

reply

The books do not count here. Period. I'm not sure why people misunderstand the show is loosely based on the books, and has it's own official canon.

Jane and Maura barely stand each other in the books. So, really, not sure why you'd bring the books up.

Seriously, the show did the ending to make it obvious.
If people disagree, that is fine, but that's not what's going on here.

reply

Your warped mentality doesn't apply here either. Everybody associated with the show including the actors and producers have all stated that there is no love interest between the women. You can fantasize all you want but that is not going to change facts that they're not together.

reply

The show has repeatedly and consistently engaged in queer baiting to a level beyond anything I've ever seen. As someone who knew nothing about the novels I recognized the way TPTB clearly were playing up the idea they might get together. If anything I'd argue TPTB shamelessly played up the homosexual angle and then went "What? We didn't." They did over and over.

Here are like three articles I pulled up in one search that refute the notion that TPTB or the cast didn't play up the possible romantic/sexual angle.

This article has a graphic that indicates full well that TNT was playing up the gay angle

An article where AH is quoted acknowledging they play up the possible homosexual angle

An interview where Sasha Alexander mused that R&I could get sexual

I'm not a fan of R&I as a couple but it was clearly pushed by TPTB consistently.

Give me a break. I find the constant shipping insulting to all women. Are you really so ignorant that you simply cannot possibly believe that two women can be close friends and not be lovers?

In spite of what Hollywood would like to shove down your throat, one out of every three people are not gay. Get over it.

reply

Exactly. Well said

reply

Loved the wink... And the giant bed. It was time!

reply

Time to wake up and realize they like men and men only.

reply

There's no harm in letting people believe that they will fall in love in Paris, it's just fiction.

I've got nothing against God, it's his fanclub I can't stand

reply

Yeah. It was a nice ending. I never expected them to kiss, but we got what we finally needed.
They love each other, and it's canon to the show.
Ignore the haters, they are all trolls.
I don't know why people would attack people for pointing out their views, but it's sad.

Don't worry though, they'll get what's coming. Karma is a pain.

reply

No harm but delusional beyond belief .

reply

Here's an article with the showrunner about the real meaning of the ending, not your projected fantasy wish.

The expression of love was also intended for Angie and Sasha to say they will always love and cherish each and every viewer.

This is the real canon, straight out of the horse's mouth. (And pun intended.)

reply

Of course he's supposed to say that. Can't alienate the non-lesbian crowd! But, wink wink, it can work both ways.

reply

Having gay characters on shows is a cool, de rigueur thing...Jan would not care about alienating anyone.

On this specific show, the characters were heterosexual.

reply

No one can deny R & I gay baited from episode 1. Sasha Alexander was even open to the idea of Maura and Jane getting together, and not just based on an interview. She tweeted about it more than once. However, it was deliberately written and acted in a way to keep both audiences happy.

Jan Nash sucked the life out of the show by focusing way too much on Jane and Maura's character suffered for it. This season wasn't well written at all. Way too many unnecessary scenes with Angela and Kent...why, oh, why?!!? He was so damn annoying. I liked Nina, but the actress..I doubt she will ever be heard from again.

Come on they're both women who are heterosexual and are attracted to men. I do obviously have a friendship that is much closer than the standard best friend and they obviously love each other however that does not mean that they are sexually attracted to each other. Not there's anything wrong with two people of the same sex being attracted to each other they're just just never been any sign and this show that that applies to either one of them. You can deeply love someone of the same sex without being attracted to them.

reply

Exactly. There has never been one scene where they showed attraction to each other. Anyone saying otherwise is a delusional fool.

reply

So what? I love all my female friends and I have went to Paris twice with some of my female friends on vacation before, it doesn't mean anything, just good friends going on vacation together. I go on vacations with some of my close female friends at least several times a year, especially now that I'm single again, we love to go on holidays and vacations together all the time because we're very close friends, that's all.
And when Maura said she "loves" Jane in the farewell video she meant she loved Jane as a friend, I tell all my female friends I love them too all the time, so what?

As always, the shippers are delusional again believing something that's not there.

reply

Are you in love with any of them?

reply

You have to remember that Jane has two brothers and for most of her life Maura was an only child. Only recently did she learn she had a half sister. Jane and Maura love each other more than as friends--they love each other like sisters! Each one is the sister the other wanted but never (or never until recently) had.

Sounds reasonable!
