Regarding the end - Jail or suicide or walk away?

Spoilers alert.

The way the movie went i honestly thought that given everything that had happened, he should maybe have considered suicide, by the time he is digging the grave for that girl he had shot:

-His fingerprints are on the gun which his friend killed himself with (jeffrey)

-He killed the bad guy with his gun, even if the girl would have provided support/cover in court, it wasnt exactly self defense or what is the law about this?

-In the motel or what ever it was, he asked for the keys and paid money so obviously he could have been accused of that other guy death as well

Basically, the movie was set for a suicide in the end, i didnt understand when he rushed to dig the grave, to not bring a gun, his gun is still in the ground where the girl is, he didnt bring the shotgun/riffle with him when went to dig the grave.

Did you even watch the end of this film? If you had, it would have been clear that he wouldn't be doing much walking, nor would there be any need for a suicide, nor any opportunity for the police to take John away in anything other than a body bag.

Its been couple of weeks since i saw it, but from what i remember it was his arm what was injured not anything else, u dont die to a arm wound now in one day or do you? I would get if he had a gun shot wound but not the case here. If i remember correctly.

The ending made it pretty clear that he never got out of the grave that he dug due to exhaustion and blood loss. Whether that's realistic or not (if he didn't tie a proper tourniquet, it's not so far-fetched), the implication was that John shared the grave with the people that he killed and the money that he was trying to bury.

he only held the friend's gun from the other end then the friend held it and shot himself
even if his fingerprints were there, he was his friend and it wouldn't be a big deal to hold his gun
and also the friend was so drunk and it is easy to determine that the shot went from so close that it was a suicide
the bad guy was threatening him and probably raping the girl an he cut his finger so it was to rescue the girl as he was holding a gun

It is never about what happened, it is only how you look at it!
