$853,244,000 so far. Will it hit 1 billion?

I ask because I didn't think it would go this high.

reply

Whoa, this is a massive hit... especially for a 3hr long R-rated historical biopic. Haven't followed the box office numbers, so this high number is a surprise to me. (Still haven't seen it)

reply

I enjoyed it because I know about WWII history, the race for the bomb, and watched a doco on Oppenheimer before I went. People with no knowledge of these things say it's boring.

If you have knowledge of these things you might like it.

reply

I'm sure I'll enjoy it more than Dunkirk or Tenet. My main concern is that it's edited too fast... some people say it's relentlesly paced.

reply

Loved the movie, but yeah at times I was feeling I was watching something Aaron Sorkin wrote. Very fat and quick dialogue all around.

reply

It is VERY surprising to see it making such numbers, its like Gandhi competing with E.T. or The Empire Strikes Back for Box Office numbers back in the 80s or something.

I liked Oppenhemier, but I didn't think it was that "great" and I do think the Barbieheimer Hype worked amazingly well...but good to see a movie like that do so well.

reply

It's making $10m a week domestic, so around $900m WW.

reply

I figured that it would break even but even I'm shocked at how well it's done. Happy, but shocked.

reply

I'm convinced that if any other filmmaker had made this movie besides Nolan, it wouldn't have made as much as it did..

reply

TRUTH

reply

As of September 27th, $912.7M per boxofficemojo.

reply

That was fast. It's down to #10 at the box office, with several wide releases in two weeks.

reply

Could be. They’ve delayed the digital release to keep it in theaters

wise thinking

WORLDWIDE
$945,403,395

Its close.

reply

If it doesn't get to $1 billion, I don't think we get a sequel.

reply

I'd love a sequel
