If this movie wasn't a book adaption i would say that the writers opened a Word file and all the scenarios of other big-hit movie and started copying and pasting. So let's go:

-The sword-fighting scene between Alec and Valentine is stolen -down to the move from the sword fighing scene from The matrix at the Merovingian palace.

-The Demon freeze Palm is also stolen from the matrix

-The gate energy tower to summon evil is kind of stolen from Lord of the rings (Minas Morgul)

- The Scene with the "Luke, I am your father" which wasn't even in Star Wars but it's a famous misquote. That would tell us that not only the writers "borrows" but also don't have a good Film Knowledge.

- Those are just right of the top of my head right now, you're more than welcome to add other stolen pieces.

PS: Imagine if Princess Leia hooked up with luke instead of Solo. Ewwwwwwwwww.
PS2: Still with incest thing, so basically at the end they decided "Hey we might be siblings but i don't feel like it so let's jump each other pants! Yayyyyy."

Honestly...just about ever love story/movie was based on Romeo and Juliet..there are just different ways to present it..and most dystopian books and movies have some of the same features...as far as your "incest thing"...the point is, they didn't act on their feelings....Jace felt more strong about it then Clary, but they just kept the feelings tamped down...until the end of book 3.
