Nine Lives of Chloe King Comparison

Is it just me or does so much of the story seem to replicate The Nine Lives of Chloe King? First of all, I have read all of The Mortal Instruments, but only watched the NLOCK TV show. It just seems like the first book started off in the same way as NLOCK. Protagonist goes illegal clubbing for her 16th birthday with her friends, and all of the supernatural stuff occurs after one interaction that night (kissing Xavier/seeing Jace, Alec and Isabelle kill a demon). Then she ends up falling in love with the hot blonde bad-ass guy that happens to be of her kind and introduces her to the Mai/Shadowhunters. Better yet, the guy that has feelings for her catches her kissing the blonde guy and the blonde guy is offending by how she says "it didn't mean anything/we were just kissing". Coincidence? I think not. I really hope Cassandra Clare didn't get all of her ideas from Celia Thomson/Liz Braswell (authors of NLOCK) because I know NLOCK was written first. Don't get me wrong, TMI is my favourite book series and I really enjoyed The Nine Lives of Chloe King TV show, but I just want to know if I'm the only one that noticed the undoubted similarity between the two.

I doubt it since none of those ideas you listed are original in the slightest.

It was probably just a coincidence. Even Grimm shares some of those similarities.

You really went off on a tangent when you started to compare Brian and Simon.

What exactly are you asking? If Clare ripped-off Thomson or have you already made u your mind that she did and are you wondering if others agree with you?

When the stars are the only things we share
Will you be there?
