160 year old cars?

Why do all post-apocalyptic movies set 150 years from now feature guys running about in today's 20 year old cars with huge GMC decals all over them? Not even the simplest attempt to show an "old" futuristic car! Also the clothing and hairstyles for everyone except a single female extra was straight off of Main Street USA today. Even amongst the Elite they were wearing todays' clothes.

Even the "futuristic" computers were stock laptops of today. Yea like a 2010 laptop computer is still working in 2015 let alone "~2150" !! LOL

You have a good point there my friend :)

Most likely due to product placements.

Most likely due to product placements.

True but most companies at least attempt to "futurize" their products in such movies. A good example would be the product placements in the first two Back to the Future movies. This movie didn't really try.

I am pretty sure when Back to The Future came, everyone taught we would have flying cars by 2015. So wtf don't we??? Save concept can apply here....not everything have to be futuristic. Shm!! I still got a *beep* razor phone that works...Shm!!

Some tech would realistically advance as we can see but its a dystopic future, a realistic future really.. overpopulation and flawed financial institutions.. the cars and computers were next generation or modified but not as advanced as you'd think..things wouldn't be as radically different as flying cars and all this clean technology, somethings would have gotten worse also.

I agree, it was definitely problematic. Design-wise I would have bought 30 years into the future, but not 150. This is not about flying cars and hoverboards - it's idiotic to think that the design of literally everything in the world won't change at least slightly in one and a half centuries, just look at how much it changed in the last 30 years.
