The elephant in the room w.r.t. the scammers

I've watched a lot of Kitboga, Scammer Payback, Jim Browning, Scam Sandwich, etc., and if there's one thing that's universally clear: 99.9% of scam operators are located in India or (to a less-organized extent) Nigeria. They have mules in the US that secret the money out of the country, but they're not the ones owning, operating, coordinating, and largely profiting off the scam. I love revenge porn on scammers as much as anyone should (they're truly scum, and their victims really can lose everything, and sometimes do kill themselves), but the entire premise rung hollow to me. Seeing punches pulled for political reasons is just lame.

It struck me as something written that way because it would be considered too offensive to have bad guys belong to any ethnicity except white.

Whites, white men in particular, are the only acceptable villains in our culture.

I could even see some Eastern European organized crime setup, but I laughed at the concept that they chose to ignore the likelihood that it would be an Indian pulling the scam. To be fair, the story couldn't unfold the way it did unless it was in the USA.

Yeah, I agree that most scammers are located in India. However, if they had chosen the beekeeper to take on the scammers in India, they would have needed a completely different script.

Compared to most contemporary movies, I didn't think this towed too much of a woke line though.

Yep — I’ve watched those all, too and you’re right: all in India.
Not only do audiences prefer an American bad guy, in bad US offices, connected all the way up to a possible bad president, but it’s not okay now to have Indian bad guys when we might be snout to elect an Indian woman president.

Sorry, I meant Black.

reply

I'm not so sure American audiences care about that, but the people making and funding the films sure do, to the point where if you don't tick the right boxes your career will be over.

I use a vpn 4 all my revenge porn.
