"Ma Vie En Rose" in El Bronx! Terrific acting and a story that looks more like a documentary than a fictionalized account. Gripping and moving, Harmony Santana and Morales in particular. Also shows why sometimes a supportive parent is not enough and support like safe schools and organizations like OutProud can be invaluable.
Well, it was screened for the first time at Sundance seeking distribution, and it was bought in a 7-figure deal, so I'd say that is a good start! It wasn't ignored by AMPAS - it is not yet eligible for nomination because it did not have a commercial run in an L.A. theater for the obligatory week, and because its debut at Sundance happened after the 12/31/10 eligibility cutoff for this year's Oscars. I read that it's going to Cannes in May, getting a theatrical release in the summer and a video release in the Fall.
