Emily is Badass - SPOILERS
Drowning in debt, unable to find a decent job because of a years-ago assault against an abusive boyfriend, she turns to a life of crime, starting small as a buyer using stolen credit card info. You think it will end in a crime-doesn't-pay resolution, but no. It goes in the opposite direction, though not without several dangerous encounters.
I especially liked the scene when she's robbed of everything she has by the nefarious couple, who showed up to ostensibly buy some merch from her. After having the box cutter held to her throat during the robbery, I knew she would grab the taser (given to her earlier by her boss, Youcef -- like Chekhov's gun over the mantle) and go after them. Which she did, finding them still parked in their pickup truck outside, chortling over the great haul they'd managed. First Emily immobilizes the box cutter-wielding guy with the taser, then throws his girlfriend from the truck onto the ground and threatens her in no uncertain terms, the taser held to the girl's throat. Emily recovers all her stolen loot, and a cheer went up for her.
Yes, Emily is a badass, who I was rooting for the whole way.
