Didn't they reveal the first whisperer a little soon?

Could've sucked on that one for some more time and saved the unmasking scene for the season finale. It was barely a mystery before it was solved. I knew about them before this but it was fun to see the chararacters crap their pants and trying to figure this one out.

That's what I thought. They should have ended the season with the audience thinking that the zombies had evolved. Typical poor writing. I watch the show on fast forward and play it when things look interesting. That way I don't get too angry at the piss poor dialog and stupid situations. It's still a great concept. I just wish that the writing was better.

It makes me sad if they are gonna rush this arc because the whisperers are really cool enemy which i've been waiting to see on screen. Negan's escape and Jesus death would've been enough to make a good ending, it didn't need the face reveal and it should've been saved for later. Before the show was notorious for dragging on too much with things but now we have the opposite problem. I was sure the whisperer would just escape after the stab, but to my surprise they actually caught him. Big waste of plot and suspense.

I like that they didn't drag it out. I have a feeling that they might start picking up the pace a bit overall. I think it's because of the comics. I'm currently reading them, haven't made it very far yet, yet I know all about the whisperers just from people talking. So, I think this might become something that the show will try to avoid by catching up quickly and eventually surpassing the source material, a la Game of Thrones. I'm sure a lot of people will hate this, but things have been so different between the two worlds, it's interesting to wonder how much it would even matter.

reply

Possibly the drastic changes that has been made from the comic to the show is because of this, to prevent spoliers, i'd rather have things done differently, even majorly different than just racing through things if i have to choose one of the ways.

reply

I'm with you on that. Though, it feels like they're doing a bit of both.

reply

Yeah, something like that. I don't think they will ever catch up with the comic though as long as it's going on, then they will have to rush the story even worse or skip very large portions.

reply

Given how the show has dragged out the Governor and Saviors arcs, I'm fine with introducing the Whisperers in the mid season finale

reply

I just want a show with a decent pace, not slow as hell or fast as fuck, i don't know why they have to go to the extremes all the time.

reply

1) Evolving zombies would be retarded (even for the walking dead)
2) The Whisperers are well-known in the comics so it would be pointless to drag it out.

reply

It was still entertaining to see the characters react to it. I wanted them to wonder for a while and come up with theories and new strategies for these new "smarter" walkers. I loved how even Daryl shat his pants there for a moment when they didn't fall for the flare.

reply

I'd rather have them change the story, ignore the whole whisperers storyline, and actually have the zombies evolve and get smarter. Now THAT would be interesting. Make the zombies a real threat again, so we can stop repeating the "evil group led by crazy madman to instantly take the place of the last evil group led by a crazy madman" thing over and over.

reply

I wouldn't mind that. I almost feel sorry for the walkers by this point since no one takes them seriously anymore except when they come in large herds. They deserve to shine again.

reply

No. This show has been criticized repeatedly for its ridiculously slow pacing. They have got to resolve things quicker for people to keep interested. Glen was under a damn dumpster for 4 straight episodes before they revealed that he was still alive. They were on that farm forever as well, and left a huge cliffhanger that left fans hanging for 6 months with Negan's introduction. I also much prefer this pacing to seasons past because there is less filler.

reply

But too quick is just as bad as too slow, i don't understand why pacing has to be rocket science to these writers, it's not that hard.
