....feel like there was something that happened, and was not revealed, but hinted at last night?

An incident...
They kept acting like:

"We haven't done that since...."
"She's been that way since...."

That X scar.....

Or am I just reading too much into the script?

No...something happened and it's related to that scar on Michonne.
I suspect they trusted the wrong people and are leery.
