Maybe he'll be back like Morgan. And Lauren Cohan may leave too. Sad news!
shareI read the other day Lauren would be coming back on a part-time basis, so less screen time for her. Not surprising since she apparently has a new show coming.
I wonder if Chandler Riggs’ ousting had anything to do with it? Andrew saw Chandler/Carl as the future of the show. With Carl now dead, they didn’t give themselves many other options. Maybe it pissed off Andrew, which means they now lost another lead? Norman Reedus was also pissed off about Chandler getting fired, but said before he would stay on the show until the end. Who knows about it now though. It’s a sinking ship with no clear direction.
I stopped watching just before they killed off Carl. Negan ruined the show for me. I stopped watching around November.
I think it's time to call it quits. I don't see this show surviving for long after Lincoln's exit and, frankly, Reedus is not that good an actor to be the next lead.
At least, they're not making Negan the lead. Thank God, I may add.
"What's the plan, Daryl?" "Grumble, grumble, err, grumble." "Uh, ok then."
shareTo me, without Rick, there is no The Walking Dead.
I guess I'm officially out then. And I haven't even watched season 8 😂
I hope Danai is leaving too!
Danai is now a movie star, with Black Panther and the last two Avenger movies under he belt. I can’t see her staying on TWD much longer either. My guess is, when Rick dies (because you just know that’s what’s going to happen) she’ll likely be out too. The sow is dying, and has been for a very long time. The ratings are in the toilet. They used to pull in 14 million viewers, now they’re pulling in numbers as bad as season 2. That’s pretty bad.
Chandler in a way was lucky to get out when he did, because it’s going downhill fast. People are sick of Negan, they’re sick of Alexandria, they’re sick of the same crap every single season. Without Rick, the show won’t survive. Wouldn’t be surprised if season 9 ends up being the final season. They have nowhere to go, now that Carl is dead. There’s no one who has leadership quality after Rick leaves. Daryl and Michonne are nothing like their former selves, they’ve both become pathetic characters. Carol is a maybe. With Carl gone though, they only have 3 original characters left. With Rick being the next to go, the show is just done. They were idiots for killing off original characters, and now having so few left.
I didn't knew season 2 was bad. How many viewers are they having now? I was a huge fan of the show and I really enjoyed the first 5 seasons. Season 7 was meh and I haven't watched season 8.
But ever since Negan got introduced and the trash people (with their dumb new language) I lost my interest. Even more after killing Carl last minute (poor Chandler) And then they stupidly keep dragging out the Negan storyline. And now I'm reading that they try to emphasize him as a misunderstood guy. Yeah right.
And now I heard that Norman is going to be a lead with a big raise. Which is also kind of a big F to Lauren Cohan. Since the studio wasn't thrilled of giving her a raise. I think she will be leaving too after this season, since her other show got picked up.
I wonder how Daryl is going to lead the show. At least he will have more lines now LOL (Btw another big F to the writers for how they wrote Daryl. Cause I really loved Daryl in the beginning. What a mess of show.
I think the highest ratings they ever got was 17 million with the season 5 premiere, but lately they’re getting only around 6 million viewers for the 2nd half of season 8. That’s basically what they got in season 2. Season 1s numbers were between 4-6 million, but that was the first season and it grew from there. If Rick is killed off, the numbers will tank.
And same here. Negan was just too brutal, I think. The governor, as much as I hated him, I could see why he convinced people to follow him. He gave them a sanctuary and told them Rick’s group were bad, they did t know how evil the Governor really was. With Negan, everyone knows he’s evil, he treats his workers like shit, and it seems like everyone hates him but no one stands up to him. It makes no sense whatsoever how his group of followers got so huge. Seeing what he did to Glenn and Abraham left me sick, and as far as I’m concerned he killed the show. He made it unwatchable.
Killing Carl was a massive mistake, especially now with Andrew Lincoln leaving. They needed Carl to take over and be the new leader, and now it’s dead in the water. They really should have locked Andrew down for at least a few more season before deciding to kill off Carl. They were stupid and now they shot themselves in the foot.
As for Norman, once Rick is dead they’re done. Whoever is left as a Daryl follower won’t keep the show running. I lost interest in Daryl around season 5. He was my fave too, but they really screwed him up. I stopped caring about him a long time ago. The last straw for me was the 1000 zombie walk. Daryl hasn’t shown himself to be a leader at all, in fact he’s the one who’s fucked up so many things. I’d rather see Carol as the leader. And giving Norman such a massive pay hike will just piss off everyone else. Especially since they refused to give Lauren more money. I’m sure if she heard this bit of information before she signed on for 6 more episodes, she would have told them to get lost.

wow...there really is no show without rick and carl.
shareAfter they killed Carl, I had a feeling Andrew Lincoln wouldn’t be too far behind. Throughout the whole show we saw Carl grow up, and if there was a future to this show it seemed likely that Carl would be the next leader. But now with Rick losing his wife and now Carl - the reason he kept on living this whole time, I just didn’t see him lasting much longer. Andrew Lincoln even did an interview last year I think, talking about how Carl was the future of the show. With that now gone, what are they going to do...a time jump? Have Judith grow up to be the new leader?
Does anyone care about Daryl anymore? I used to be a big Daryl fan, but he went from being a badass to wreckless and boring. I started wishing they would kill him off because he was useless. Ever since that 1000 Zombie walk they did back in....was it season 5? That’s when i stopped rooting for Daryl. He can’t run the show. Carol is a possibility. She’s the only good character left. Michonne went the same way as Daryl...from badass to useless. And now with Rick gone it’s like..just end the show. I’m assuming it’ll be a time jump after he leaves, because without Rick there is no show. They’ll probably try and reboot it with Judith now an adult and still living in zombie land. There’s no direction for this show, hasn’t been for a long time. It’s the same thing over and over and over again.
you are right about michonne and daryl. they were great characters that the writers slowly eroded into nothing. they have even done the same thing to carol.
shareI stopped watching about 2 or 3 episodes before Carl’s death, about last November. So they made Carol worse too now? The last I saw of her, she was trying to talk some sense into that guy who had the tiger. That tiger death scene was one of the last episodes I saw. I just found myself not even watching the show anymore, I would have it on in the background, but be paying more attention to what was on my iPad, you know? Negan really killed the show for me. He’s worse than the Governor, and the Governor nearly had me stop watching too.
Watching TWD just became a show that I stopped enjoying a long time ago. It was something I would watch, and then complain about on the old IMDB boards. Season 1 was amazing, season 2 and 3 were horrible. I kept watching though, hoping that it would get better, but it just never did. Season 6 and 7 were horrible, especially with the death fakeouts, all the out of place episodes before finding out what happened (like that Morgan episode showing him become the stick Jedi). I think it took like 3 or 4 episodes for us to find out that Glenn survived under the dumpster. It just became more and more ridiculous, and so bad.
And Negan was the final nail in the coffin. He has no redeeming qualities. There have been great villains who you sometimes root for, but with Negan I just wanted him dead. Can't stand him. It’s ridiculous to me that I would rather see another season with the Governor, than another episode with Negan. His entire premise makes no sense, like why so many people follow him. At least the Governor made sense.

Rick and his people were the heart and soul of the show and Rick's character traits drove the show, the writers killed that the moment they decided to make Negan the star.
ABSOLUTELY AGREE!
I won't watch after Andy leaves. I have always said, once he goes, that's it.
i agree. i won’t watch without rick.
shareYou lasted longer than me. I stopped watching back in November. A few episodes before they killed off Carl. I refused to watch Carl’s death to give them higher numbers. Just like they always do, they played up his death and didn’t actually show it until the next episode....2 months later. I’m just so sick of it. I’m sick of them doing the same crap all the time. I really was getting fed up in season 6. The back and forth with all the episodes, not finding out what happened for weeks whether someone lived or died, like Glenn’s first close call with the dumpster. And all the filler episodes inbetween, which pissed off fans even more. Like did we really need a whole episode about Morgan becoming a Jedi?
Negan absolutely killed the show for me. He made it unwatchable. And it was ridiculous how they made him bulletproof. They had so many chances to take him out since he showed up, and they either missed every single time they shot at him, or they didn’t even go for the shot when they could have. Rick and his team should have been able to take out Negan and every one of His cronies when they surrounded them and brought in those zombies. But of course every single one of them miss. Are you kidding me? That’s BS.
Negan absolutely killed the show for me. He made it unwatchable.
Absolutely agree. A buffoon of a character. It works in the comics, does not work on the TV.
I thought no one could be as bad as the governor, but at least the governor I understood. You could see why people followed him. They didn’t know how crazy he was. He gave them false sanctuary, told them Rick and the others were the bad guys and couldn’t be trusted, etc. He made them feel protected, but they really had no idea how bad off they were. Especially since they had no idea how to fight or anything. They were pretty much like the Alexandians in the beginning. But you could understand why people followed him. Just like why people listen to Rick.
But then you see Negan and how he treats his people like crap, and are you kidding me with this shit? The workers get treated like crap, are harassed and assaulted regularly by Negan’s cronies. Even his own cronies hate him and want to overthrow him and become the new leader of the group. He freaking stole their wives (at least Dwight’s wife) and told them they’d have to please him from now on. Are you kidding me? Then there’s all the places who give Negan and his crew half of everything they own, just because he says so and threatens them. Like I just don’t understand anyone’s mentality at all. Why haven’t all his workers come together and overthrown Negan and his cronies? Why didn’t all these places get together before Rick showed up, and come up with a plan to attack him? Why the hell would any of them say no or betray him like those garbage people did? Hell, just get one well-placed sniper, and take him out in a second. But no, of course every time they shot at him they missed. Every. Single. Time. Like how the hell did this guy amass such a massive army? It makes no sense at all. I can understand the Governor doing it, but not Negan.
It’s crazy to me that I would rather 10 Governor’s, than another episode with Negan. I just can’t watch that crap anymore. I like JDM, I liked him on Supernatural. I even love all the little jokes Supernatural throws in with their JDM references. But I can’t stand him on TWD.
I agree with all this. As for JDM, I cannot stand him, Negan, or any other role.
shareIt's not too far fetched and actually pretty common throughout history that a large group of people can be ruled over by a select few. In Negan's case, he set up a caste system where the lower group was being "protected" by the higher group. Negan kept his place at the top because he established a set of rules and made his top guys believe if he wasn't there, they would cut each others' throats to take over. This is exactly what he told Gabriel when they were trapped in the bus. And if that happened, the one who came out on top would probably abandon the rules and destroy the order he says he was responsible for establishing.
shareThis show is officially done. A dark day as a TWD fan :(
shareYes, it is done. Gimple played fast and loose with us. The show suffered, the actors disgruntled, I HAVE NO DOUBT. Once it is history, someone will write a "behind the scenes" book. I cannot wait to read it.
shareI agree 100%. There will be a lot of nasty stuff that comes out in the future about this show. And once that happens AMC will be finished.
shareWell...I've been over this show since they killed Glenn...I had prepared myself for it but the writing following Negan and the head bashings just got worse and worse..The remaining main characters became shells of their former selves and the plot and the dialogue just got more and more banal..The main characters got neglected for new characters that just weren't very interesting. But it fit with the show being boring.
I stopped watching right before the Carl midseason culling. I think it was a dreadful mistake killing Carl when we all know it was used as a band aid device for an ailing show. And it only made things worse.
I'm not surprised that Andrew Lincoln wants to leave now. The show is limping along and I doubt he was personally pleased about the decision to kill off Carl. I think he always saw Carl as Rick's purpose and his legacy.
I'm not sure what they have in mind...Will they cancel or end it after S9 or 10... or attempt a reboot with mainly new characters.
The trouble is that new characters sometimes take a while to warm to...especially the ones they've been choosing. How many diehards will stick around after Rick goes...and surely most to follow (Michonne and Maggie)?
Daryl? Hmm..I use to love his character but they've left him out to wither for too many seasons now. It feels like too little too late.
I agree with everything you wrote!!! The way in which they killed Glenn was so over the top and disgusting, that I couldn’t stand to see Negan any more after that. For me, he completely ruined the show. I haven’t been a fan of the show for the longest time, but I kept watching out of habit and hoping it would improve and just get better. It never did. There were some episodes here and there that were great, but you are right in that they made a show about zombies and survival boring.
For me, the show took a huge dive after season 1. I was so sick of the farm, and the whole idea of it just seemed ridiculous. Having nothing securing the location except a wooden fence, was ridiculous. Wasting bullets for target practice on TREES and bottles/cans, instead of ZOMBIES was just mind blowing. The fact they seemed to have unlimited ammo too, was annoying. As were the teleporting/ninja zombies who didn’t make a sound until they were right beside you, was ridiculous. The fact it took us like a whole year I think it was, to find out what the hell happened to Carol’s daughter was beyond annoying. At least it felt like a year.
I also stopped watching a few episodes before they killed Carl. And I agree it was a huge mistake. A mistake that possibly led to Andrew Lincoln deciding to leave. A lot of cast were upset about Chandler being fired, especially Andrew and Norman Reedus. Andrew gave interviews saying how he thought Carl was the future of the show. That Carl would take over as leader after Rick dies. I think he even said that after he knew Carl had already been killed off. And you’re right in that it was used as a bandaid device. They thought killing Carl would be such a huge blow that it would somehow bring people back. But all it did was drive fans further away. Thinking about it now, Chandler is lucky he was fired when he was, at least he can know that he got out of the show before it really tanked in ratings. I’m surprised Andrew lasted as long as he did.

This is completely correct!
