So, we see Daryl and Rosita deciding to not take out the bullet factory, but take out the man, aka Eugene. But how does this make any sense? He has taught everyone in there how to make the bullets, he just overlooks the entire operation, even if they kill him, they now know how to make the bullets! Destroy the machines, and they can never make a single bullet any more!
Eugene is too smart to let any one person know everything. He gives them all individual tasks, and while someone may be able to piece it all together, they're not gonna know what to do if something happens and they need to improvise. That would take time for someone working closely with him. Eugene is essentially the Walter White of bullets, and he doesn't have a Jesse that we know of.
the sooner the better ... that frickin' eugene has been working my last nerves every time we see him on screen the sniveling weasel ... the more painful and slow the better. ;-)
Exactly. It's ridiculous. Making bullets is not rocket science--there's probably a few (hell, probably more than a few) people in that factory who once they've seen the process of making the bullets could replicate what Eugene is overseeing.
The easy, non-risky solution to stop Negan's bullet production would be to just burn down the factory.
You're all going to be surprised then when during the final battle with the Saviors where it looks like they have the upper hand on Rick and Co. and suddenly the Saviors bullets that Eugene made are all duds.
Wouldn't be surprised at all, considering the way this show is written. Because we, the audience, would be expected to buy that no-one from Negan's group would consider test-firing some random bullets from Eugene's factory just to make sure they work ok.
Yep, they actually went there, which isn't a surprise I guess but it is saddening. The co-dependency equation between the writers of this show and their perceived audience is basically "the dumb leading the dumber." Or maybe more accurately it's the untalented feeding the tasteless.
The Saviors entire plan rests on the ammo Eugene is providing, and the ONLY test they do of these homemade rounds is the single pistol that Eugene makes a point of giving to Negan to test. And just how exactly did Eugene insure that EVERY round was going to blow-up in the chamber when he had so many multiple workers churning out these bullets? A defective round is just as likely to do nothing at all as explode when it's fired. But I guess that wouldn't have looked as "cool" on TV so EVERY gun had to go boom.
Well, you were wrong there with yesterdays episode, Eugene personally checked every bullet to see if they were correct and even was on its way to fire some to see how well they performed.
I was very surprised about Eugene's full immersion into the Savoir life! Seems he will not be redeemed. I'm sorry about that, as I find him very interesting. JM plays a good role.
You may be right Necro, it was only a theory but I’m not gonna rule it out until the big battle in next week’s episode is over. I always thought it’s only gonna happen when every thing seems lost for the gang and then the bullets start failing and it shows Eugene was playing the long game all along.
It's kinda fun what they've done with the character of Eugene. He seems autistic.....and it's hard to tell whether he's brilliant, or just someone with occasional clever ideas who sells them with confidence. I'm leaning toward brilliant. And the fact that he's a cowardly weasel who occasionally does something heroic makes him fun to follow, and almost kinda root for. Plus, I like how dark and focused he became in the last episode. He had a different look in his eyes. It would be cool if he went down a dark, angry road with the Saviors. Or....it would be awesome if he's been playing them the whole time, and pulls something on them in the final hour. Either way, he's a great, multi-dimensional character that really could go in any number of directions.
Eugene is simply a survivor. He says and does whatever he thinks will lead to the best chance of survival. The whole cure thing for instance. Kept him with bodyguards, nice and safe.
Rosita made made it clear Eugene would not be in for a fun time back with the group. Logic dictates he's safer with the saviours. Hence why he bailed when Rosita was standing there with her thumb up her butt like a pleb that can't follow a basic instruction.
Oh I agree. He is fascinating. Remember last season and his centric-episode. Normally, I abhor those, but not Eugene's. I agree that he is brilliant. But also a practical guy, so he will do whatever he needs to stay alive. Whether he is "all in" with the Saviors or just playing them, he is fun.
