Nobody likes it anymore, But nobody can agree on how to "fix" it either.

I think many of us who are dismayed at the show's decline agree that the writing is flawed. The characters are behaving uncharacteristically. The plot has become silly and implausible. The show runner, Scott Gimple needs to be replaced. These all we are in agreement with.

I am glad they are following the comics. I don't think they have to have "word for word". But I like that the writers have source material. I don't want the TV show to stray too far from it.

I think they need a new purpose and plot line, not the same rehashed one of "find a safe place, take it over, defend it". I said it in another thread, but move on to DC, let's see what the capitol looks like, and what the remnants of the govt/military are.

Bring. Back. The. Gore.

Even if the writing sucks, the gore kept it fun and gave the show its edge. It used to feel like anything could happen. Now it just feels sanitized.

There probably isnt a way to fix it, it has had 8 season for a subject that is generally covered well enough in a 2 hour movie. The story has been stretched past its breaking point, at least that's my thoughts. I do not believe new writers can fix it, because they would still need to work within the current tired universe.

Honestly I'm not sure it can be "fixed" at this point. I know that probably sounds like a defeatist viewpoint (especially from someone who's been a big fan), but I care more about quality than quantity. I'd much rather have a high-quality show that lasts just a few seasons than one that drags on until it becomes stagnant, which is what's happened with TWD. Many of the episodes are simply there for filler, the "story" (I put that word in quotes because I don't think there is much story anymore) has become monotonous, the characters' personalities go back and forth, randomly, between extremes... The show is limping around with no direction in sight, which I think is a clear sign that it's run out of gas and needs to come to an end.

I think an anthology series would be a good idea, and truthfully I think end-of-the-world survival shows would, in general, work better as anthologies. For example, you could show different sets of people surviving in different ways and in different environments, giving a wider range of possibilities and a more encompassing view of what the world's become.

how about less episodes. this would cut down on the boring, filler episodes.

how about not killing a lead character every season. after awhile, you just stop caring.
