That episode was a freaking mess...

I have no idea what the fuck was going on.

Oh and is Moran immortal??

reply

I'm very surprised my interest in Fear the Walking Dead is going up while my interest in the main Walking Dead show is plummeting fast.

On one hand, maybe it's expected, as TWD is on its eight season and is getting long in the tooth. But still, many things I'm starting to dislike about the show doesn't even have to do with the length of the series. It's just down to characters doing things that don't make much sense (like Jesus collecting those Saviors as prisoners), and very unsatisfying resolutions to conflicts that have been built up over time (Negan in plain view, with 50 of Rick's group having assault rifles....and they ALL miss. Can't even hit the other 4 people standing next to him. Not even graze them. They ran to safety, faster than the bullets!).

If TWD keeps pulling stuff like that, I'm just going to watch FTWD and catch the main show on Netflix some rainy day. It's getting aggravating and boring to watch Negan with his obvious comic book plot armor. There's no tension, which means there's no drama.

reply

I agree. It's first episode shows what is happening in the future, the second one flashes back to the past. I do not like it.

reply

I think this episode might have been running on separate timelines as well, because some of the Saviors were saying they called and backup was on the way.

reply

The compound fight confused the hell out of me, we see 5 guys falling back that shot down Morgan and the two friendlies, than we see Morgan killing about 8/9 guys, and than a group of like 20 comes out the back again? Where did these guys suddenly came from? And it was stupid of them to not kill them, as soon as Neegan got the upper hand again they will kill again.

reply

Yeah. This episode was a total mess. Serious new low for TWD. Just WTF? Did they get a 5 year old to write and cut it? Total shambles. Someone should be fired for this.

reply

whoever wrote this episode should feel ashamed.

reply

I thought it was just me. Very confusing. Worst, I don't care to figure out what happened because it was boring.

Not only was the action muddled, so was the moral message that they are trying to bring up. War is bad. Not when you're fighting for your freedom and life. After all, how many people were killed by Negan?

reply

To be fair i think they're leaving that open to interpretation. They never aid Tara or Jesus was was correct.

reply

They are killing Negan, in bite size chunks.

reply

Ironic that there's a TON of action in these last two episodes, and yet, the series took the biggest ratings drop in 5 years. It shows that having shootouts and loud noise doesn't make something automatically great.

I think the audiences want to move on from Negan too. I don't really care how he is in the comics - I think he's overrated and tiresome to watch on TV. Too comical, always leaning back with every other word...then throws out a penis, shit and sex joke for some 14 year old out there to giggle at. I don't think there's any depth, and we learn nothing from his history despite him being onscreen so much. Negan is Negan every week, and I think audiences want to move on.

They couldn't even make him injured from that last episode. The show is too beholden to the comics and his plot armor is too obvious.

/and we learn nothing from his history despite him being onscreen so much. Negan is Negan every week, and I think audiences want to move on. /

That's the biggest Problem with Negan, has a Caricature of a villain. i mean is it so hard to at least hint as to why he is the way he is?

reply

there's a rumor that one of the episodes will go into Negan's backstory, but it might be in the 2nd half of the season. And the full Negan experience is sorta ruined because they can't have him drop f-bombs on TV.

reply

They had Negan talking about sliding his dick down Rick's throat. They can do f-bombs if they want, other shows have been doing them all year. It's the new thing.

reply

It's not just slipping one here and there, it's like every other line. This is the Negan introduction scene they did for the blu-ray, almost verbatim from the comics:

reply

And you think the word 'fuck' is worse than talking about face fucking another man?

reply

No, but the censors do. Though I've noticed on Mr. Robot they say a lot of fucks; on the US broadcast, the sound is cut when they do, but on the Canadian broadcast it is unaltered.

reply

They are self censored. It's not broadcast television so they can do whatever they want that is acceptable to their advertisers. Lots of shows have been pushing boundaries on nudity and strong language in the last 2 years. I've even seen a couple of what looked like nipple flashes but they were too quick to be sure. Traditionally, television and movie ratings depend on context, sex is worse than violence so "fuck you" might get a pass but "let's fuck" would be a no-go because it's a sexual reference. Before PG-13, many PG movies had nudity (technically they still can) as long as the nudity is not sexual.

The tv show has an unbroken record of fucking up everything it adapts from the comic. In the comic, Negan is a sadistic, murdering thug but he's also a human being with a full range of human reactions, not the cartoonish, one-dimensional Adam West Batman villain the tv show is offering every week. They've simultaneously reduced the character to practically nothing will insisting on throwing him in our face to do that exact same nothing over and over again.

reply

You are absolutely right about Negan. He has overstayed his welcome. He is a comic book character, and that fits him well in the comic book. Sadly, his character does not translate to the screen. It is tiring watching this buffoon.

reply

The character from the comic would have translated very well to the screen; the tv show is what made him this mess, not the comic.

reply

I didn't say the comic book made him a mess. But you are right , the TV show runner made him a caricature of the comic!! JDM is awful, I can't stand him in the role. Sadly, we are going to be saddled with him for probably two more years, IF the show lasts that long.

reply

Agreed
The Negan war is thrilling enough in the comics...no need to fuss about with it... Still, im hooked
Ill keep watching:/
