Did Cooper intend us to like Ally’s pop music?

I MUCH preferred the music she made before she signed that manager. As did Jackson.

But “poptimist” critics seem to see it as a legit expression of her artistic vision. Am I blinded by my dislike of dance pop, or are they blinded by their enjoyment of it? Could Cooper and Gaga have seen it differently?

I did too...as I did the entire package.
But I think you're on to something because rather than being a statement on success and its corruption of natural talent I think they mean to say that Ally would never come out from under Jackson's shadow as long as he was alive..
Or Gaga inferred that in an interview.
