The only movie I can't understand why it's a hit.

I can understand every boxoffice hits, even I don't like it, examples: Transformers 2, Avatar, Harry Potter 8. Star Wars 7&8.

But I can't understand Barbie... it's boring and preachy. I can't think of a reason to explain why.

This will be on sale in 6 months on every platform, and it will remain that way forever. It successfully appeals to progressives because it made itself a movie about progressivism, which is brilliant from a marketing standpoint, despite the fact that it's intended message doesn't hold up under the slightest scrutiny. The reality is, it's not a very good movie on it's own, but it convinced people it was important to like it. I've used the comparison to The Emperors New Clothes, and feel it fits well. Most people will not want to see it a second time, even if they claimed to love it. To say this will age poorly is an understatement.

THAT STATEMENT IS FALSE.

The vast majority of women in America either had Barbie dolls, or bought them for their daughters.

I would have been more shocked if it WASN'T a smash hit.

Exactly, why is this so hard for people to understand?

The Barbie brand itself is a huge draw, they had a big name actresss as the lead, and the CGI and visuals were well done
