This makes me miss the 90s

Just started watching so we'll see how it goes

reply

I'd say it was the last great decade for music. I wouldn't say I miss the decade but it's better than the shitshow that's 2021.

reply

I do(miss it that is). It was the last great decade I remember. Then came 9-11 and our country has gone further downhill ever since

reply

The music industry for the most part ended with Napster and file sharing. No money means we get 2 new artists a year of Disney’s choosing.

reply

So far it's telling pretty well how I remember things. Especially how the shift in music was happening with counter culture artist to the teen pop crowd.

Loved seeing Offspring make fun of Backstreet Boys on stage lol reminds me of what they did at Aftershock 14 when they played after Limp Bizkit

They were like "Fred Durst is here? Is this 1999" lol hilarious

reply

Like how they are showing DMX performing "my niggas" and the white crowd is singing along with him and no one cares except the whiny SJW dude being interviewed trying to make it about racism

reply

He's not a "whiny SJW dude", he's a black man watching tons of white people sing a word that was probably called to his parents and grandparents by people who were trying to kill or beat them.

Like, it's not like he's some "trendy SJW" white liberal. The dude was black.

We know how hard that shit is to hear and be called. My folks got ran out of the south with that shit. It's not a joke.

reply

Nope that particular individual really was a "whiny SJW dude". I have watched the documentary twice and thought that person was especially irritating to listen to because of his smugness and holier-than-thou attitude.

reply

DMX wanted crowd participation and that's what he got.

reply

He didn't have to get it like that.

reply

DMX and his DJ obviously didn’t give a s**t, but add 20 years and and a contemporary agenda to the mix and you have idiots like that black guy trying to turn it into something that it isn’t.

reply

Like how they show Wyclef Jean playing the National Anthem then breaking his guitar. And Bush leading the FUCK chant

reply

This black dude being interviewed from the NY Times is such a dickhead and Moby is right there with him and they both are trashing NuMetal and Kid Rock for "stealing hip hop from blacks" and making it about "homophobia and misogyny"

This shit is killing this doc for me really

reply

Yeah sounds like it could've been good, but it went lame. Is it at least fair in the sense that it has people saying Kid Rock, etc. were good? It isn't slanted one way is it?

reply

Its heavily slanted to, and I'm not kidding they even say this, "white men bad"

reply

Right. Well that's a shame.

reply

They barely even touched on the organizers or corporations selling 4$ water bottles in 1999 or didn't have medical or shaded areas for people to sit nope just "angry white men bad and these white men voted Trump and congregate online"

reply

Aww cmon you're yanking my chain. They didn't talk about the jacked up promoters all that much? Or how they booked 4 heavy metal acts back to back in one night?

reply

That got very little time compared to white men bad..watch it you'll see. Its a 2 hour doc

reply

Limp Bizkit is on now so this is where the turn really started

reply

Yeah this has taken a dark turn now talking about the assaults and people dying from heat strokes

reply

The Chili Peppers are up now. Here comes the FIRE
