Premieres Friday July 23rd

I think I’m going to sign up for HBO Max and watch this tonight. https://youtu.be/h62RmIsx6MA

reply

i didn't know about this, thanks. did you go in 99?

reply

No I wasn't there. Im not exactly looking forward to the political spin being put on the topic from the trailer, but I was a fan of the music at the time.

reply

i didn't realize what is was about when i answered. i'm still going to watch it but i thought it was going to be like the 69 woodstock movie.

reply

I'm from Kansas and was 17 in 1999.

reply

watching it now, 17, 18 year old white males seem to be the majority who attended this event. I just randomly opened my account for Hbo max today, this is a pleasant surprise, good content so far.

reply

I just got done watching it and I'll say it's a very well done documentary with a few minor complaints. The Riot Footage was hard to watch at the end and it was sad to hear the story from the one attendee who's friend died at the show. I thought it failed when they tried to put a 2021 political and social spin on the festival. Greed and being a poorly planned show caused the riots.

reply

I'm at the half way point but thanks for the warnings

reply

What bands do they talk to

reply

I'm not done with it yet but so far Korn, Offspring, moby

reply

Jewel, and a couple of members of Roots as well.

reply

Scott Staples from Creed is also interviewed. He actually seems like a likeable Guy here and not the douchebag he was in the 90s. I thinks it’s because he got sober.

reply

Ahhh 99. When the people had enough of corporate sellouts and brought the Rage. Thanks for the heads up watching it now

reply

I was going to Ozzfest every summer in the late 90's glad i didn't venture out for this

reply

I went to Ozzfest 05 in Houston. That was loads of fun. Been to aftershock a few times out here in CA. None of them broke out in a Rage.

reply

I went from 96 to 01 all in Dallas, in 99 they let Slayer on the main & what seemed like the entire Lawn Rushed the Seating area. It was impressive & luckily i was seated further on the side area to not be in harms way but the massive stampede will be something i never forget.

reply

I kind of laughed seeing the hippie mural walls getting painted knowing they were going to be torn down later.

reply

Yeah that's funny lol

These people being interviewed are straight up SJW idiots though. They are complaining about tits really? This one dude complaining about DMX rapping with a white crowd to the song "my niggas" and crying about racism.

What a bunch of babies. No wonder this generation sucks

reply

Yeah that dude crying racism during the DMX song is a moron. It's called Audience participation and being a part of the show. Seeing boobs at a rock concert is a pretty common thing.

reply

Just goes to show how they are trying to shape a narrative. Growing up then it wasn't a big deal to sing along with that word. Now its a racism for a Black Performer to get the audience into the show LOL

Reminds of that rapper a couple a of years ago who brought a white girl on stage and she sang the lyrics with that word and the audience and the artist berated for it

And nudity really? Wtf I swear these people have to be religious prudes to complain about tits at a rock festival

reply

think your just explaining what ledup to all the sexual assault

reply

I'm not condoning sexual assault and I'm not even at that part yet. I'm talking about them complaining at girls gone wild culture of 99 and that there are topless women walking around. There's been tits at every concert I've been to. Also for Offspring to say "don't grope women if they are crowd surfing but If it's a dude grab his fucking balls" which you shouldn't grope anybody without their permission idk this just feels like they are analyzing things with a PC 2021 spin and trying to make people feel shamed for normal things that happened then..again not saying or condoning what took place later

reply

haven't gotten there either in the show but I'm seeing its direction & its making sense to me

reply

Oh it makes sense how it got there just saying we can be critical about that for sure but we don't have to trash nudity like prudes

reply

it was very brief to me

reply

Not to me man. Every time that guy from the NY Times talks or that other chick complaining about white culture

Metallica is taking stage now. I liked what Dave Mustane said about Larz and Napster LOL

Also Moby and that complainer chick again

"there's no way someone there for Limp Bizkit wanted to have a mellow time and drop X at the rave tent"

I like all kinds of music and use to rave when I was younger. These people are way off man

reply

And you sound like a typical Woodstock 99 attendee. And I bet you think that's a compliment.

reply

And you sound like a Pride Parade attendee. Fuck off queerbait

reply

Homophobia? Check ☑

reply

Go back to watching your tranny porn and stfu

reply

Transphobia? Check ☑

What other minorities do you hate?

reply

Argentineans

reply

I bet you would have a blast at Woodstock 99 assaulting women, chanting the N word and destroying things. Seems like your kind of crowd.

reply

I bet you'd have fun at SF Pride, walking naked around kids, wearing assless chaps for trannies and being a world class pervert

Please don't sexually assault any kids you groomer fuck

reply

No wonder you love the 90s so much. It's not just the awful nü metal music but also the moral outrage.

Girl, bye 👋

IGNORED

reply

LOL run away coward just don't abuse any kids today you groomer fuck

reply

I’m watching this again this morning and I think the promoters know how they screwed up but I find it interesting that the promoters and audience genuinely hated MTV at the time. They hated the negative spin they put on the show and the audience hated them for shifting more towards the teen pop music.

reply

I was watching TRL way back then when Korn & Limpbizkit would take over the number 1 slot for weeks beating out nsync & spears. never voted but was still impressed & would tune in when they'd have the nu metal bands on.
