How was that a horrible job?

I don't understand how the dentist guy 's job was horrible.

reply

I understand that he didn't like it because he was engaged, but yah honestly I would love that job.

reply

Yeah, they could have done a little better in making that situation seem intolerable...I honestly don't know many guys who would complain.

reply

Because he was engaged to be married and Julia wouldn't take no for an answer. Now, if he wasn't that, maybe he'd do her. Understand?

reply

...Because she was trying to blackmail him?

reply

It was his lifelong goal to be a husband, and that would definitely throw a wrench in it.

reply

how do people not get this by now? he has a fiance, any decent human being wouldnt screw that up over some piece of ass. and yea of course jennifer anniston/julia was hot to say the least but she was also bats*** crazy, she would have ruined his life. and dont you guys remember how the other two guys were giving him crap saying his situation wasnt that bad anyways? i think they did great making dale's boss seem terrible, because she really was just as bad as colin farrel and kevin spacey's characters

reply

I don't see her as crazy just a really horny sex addict..... Do women like this even exist? lol

reply

Sex addict means having a mental illness thus meaning crazy.

reply

"julia was hot to say the least but she was also bats*** crazy" If you'd ever had sex with a crazy girl, you'd understand why men make those stupid decisions... It's a small moment of greatness punctuated with loooong periods of torment.

reply

Clearly, you've never had a girlfriend.

See you space cowboy...

reply

Clearly you've never had a sense of humour.

reply

Says the guy who doesn't get the funny thing about a guy complaining about Jennifer Aniston harrassing you

If I don't reply, you're most likely on my ignore list

reply

I was wondering the same thing at first. I think the joke lies in Day's character reacting in the way the stereotypical guy never would in his situation. Also, as mentioned in a previous comment, it was his lifelong goal to be a husband, a goal that I think might be more stereotypical of women wanting to be a wife - could be seen as gender role reversal. At least that's what I concluded from it (also, consider the irony that a guy like that would end up a registered sex offender).

reply

Glad to see someone gets it.

reply

Because it is still sexual harassment? Like most women, not all guys want to be constantly hit on by their boss, even if she is hot. Some guys just want to go to work and come home. Sexual harassment is still a crime even if your boss is hot, and not all dudes are built the same.

reply

His buddies obviously poke fun at this by saying his situation "doesn't seem that bad" multiple times. Thus, the film itself acknowledges that his situation is one many guys would be peachy with--relationship or not.

Dale is a rarity because he's (as described in his intro) always wanted to be a husband. So, Julia is screwing that up.

reply

Sexual harassment is not considered "sexy" or "hot"! Yes it is funny in the movie, but if your devoted to someone....it's harassment in the work place.

reply

Well, even in the movie, his pals found he was wierd and wondering why he thought his boss were horrible.

He is a bit girly and sentive though.
