Nostalgic trip dark satire, I liked it
I didn't feel the ending was so great, but overall this did not disappoint.
If you grew up in the last century, the whole vibe of the late night talk show will feel like a comfortable familiar scene. The magic acts, the skeptic, the sidekick, smoking during interviews..
I would recommend watching this without reading too much about the movie itself. The found footage + backstage scenes (which are not made to look like real backstage scenes, but it was a way to move the story along) pretty much work effectively together.
It's better than most of the horror films I've seen recently that feel like recycled cliches (Imaginary, Cobweb, Night Swim, Deliver Us, The Nun films, The Boogeyman, etc)
