The directors clearly don't understand horror movies, so possibly they got exposed to Ghostwatch thru some lecture at their film school, if they ever heard about it. I won't even call Late Night with the Devil true found footage/mockumentary - they either don't understand it or didn't want to seriously go in that direction.

Yeah they're pretty similar but Ghostwatch is better.
