Interesting, because Jacob Pitts is also ambiguous about his orientation in private life, and often plays gay characters. So it fits that the suggestion would come from Jacob Pitts. His character, Tim Gutterson, isn't out and wouldn't come out so abruptly. He is just making a joke, no need to get all queeny and dramatic.;-)
I also thought, on first viewing, that the producers were letting us 'off the hook' on the 'is he, or isn't he?' thing by signaling hetero. And thought that until just recently an acquaintance informed me that Sigourney Weaver is not gay, but has had a number of parts with gay subtext and is a big supporter of gay rights; hence, the icon status with queer geeks.
Anyway, Gutterson's choice coice for Sigourney Weaver would have been pretty 1992, not 2015. Just google 'Sigourney Weaver gay icon' and you will be rewarded, like so... http://www.advocate.com/arts-entertainment/people/2013/04/08/sigourney-weaver-thrilled-be-queer-geek-icon
