Boyd + Ava (spoilers)

Is it just me did their relationship never really make sense? Honestly, I somewhat liked Boyd's character, that is in the way you can like a sociopathic, thieving drug dealer. But I never could really stand Ava after her and Boyd got together. Her entire character arc never really made sense.

I thought Ava and Boyd at first seemed out of left field.

But, when you consider Ava was married to Boyd's brother and put up with the abuse for some time, it lends me to beleive she was attracted to the criminal lifestyle. I think she tried to amend after she shot her husband, but found living an honest life was boring and it was difficult for her to be financially independent without crossing the line to crime. So when Raylan broke her heart she reverted back to being involved with the criminal lifestyle. I think she tried to present herself as non criminal but ultimately she was always attracted/addicted to the lifestyle.

It made sense to me. Both Boyd/Ava and Ava's arc, they were strong. For Boyd/Ava, they were two broken people who found comfort in each other. Yeah it was a little odd at first to get used to, but the actors had a fantastic chemistry together and the material was strong so they made it work. Ava's arc was about survival. When we first meet her, she's fragile, and rattled over what has happened in her life. She develops, throughout the series, into a strong, independant woman who perseveres.

Agree with all of this. I was a bit disappointed with Ava's betrayal but it ultimately made sense for the character.

I thought that their relationship was a little bit too creepy and the supposed chemistry between those two that some people speak of just seems nonexistent to me.
