sad, boring and depressing
how is this getting 98%?
shareIt may be sad, boring and depressing ... to you.
But it is what real life is like some times, and therefore, for me, it was realistic, humanistic ... and subtly humorous.
It's ok. Definitely overrated.
shareA charming insightful film. It went a little heavy-handed on the class warfare, but those were/are the realities.
I'd give it an 8.5.
I agree with you, JoWilli. It was a pretty boring, and predictable film.
sharethanks, I wanted to like it, but it simply was just a boring movie. Paul G was amazing though, as always.
shareYes, I felt the same way: "I wanted to like it." It seemed like an old school movie in an old school, no less. A throw-back to the movies of my youth and teen years before superheroes and action franchises ruled the day. Sadly, I just couldn't get into it, and I found myself looking at the bottom of my computer screen seeing how many more minutes remained. Never a good sign of your overall enjoyment of a film when you find yourself doing that!
Perhaps the litigation that seems to be fomenting concerning the film's authorship will cause the 'making of' The Holdovers better than the film itself.
sad, boring, depressing....that's my life, so I can relate
