I wanna know how he got that scar on the left side of his face.

reply

He's got a scar on his face too? Haven't noticed that XD
Does it look like whiskers too? XD John's scars tend to look like whiskers

It's pretty darn noticeable it goes from his nose to all the way into his beard, it looks like he was attacked by a giant hawk really.

Jack is a dick. John is an awesome guy.

I love both Jack and John. They're great characters.

Probably from that damn Grizzly on Nekoti Rock.

That is indeed where Jack supposedly got that scar.
John then traveled to the top of Nekoti Rock where he found Jack badly injured and the grizzly bear that had caused the wounds. Saving Jack from the animal, they both rode back to Beecher's Hope, with John disappointed in his son's behavior. Although Jack survived his encounter with the Grizzly, he was scarred, the scars resembling those of his father.

All I have to say is people hate on him for no reason. Although I understand the resentment they feel for having to give away John. Jack is hardly the person to blame. especially being... well... you know... fictional.

And he's the one who gives you an opportunity for revenge. Gotta admit I was sad to see John go though..

Jack is a zombie, same with Abigail

I seen't you rip a mans jawbone off! I SEEN'T IT!

It'd be neat is when John enters his final dead-eye for the shoot out, if you use the Mauser pistol and manage to target every single guy somehow...you'd survive the game.

Maybe if you killed everyone except the one agent dude (that Jack kills) then you, as John could track him down and finish him off for trying to have you killed.

Or perhaps in a sad twist of fate, if you pull off killing all the men outside the barn, Jack and Abigail get cut off further down the road and are gunned down by the Army. So you as John survived but now you've lost your wife and son. The whole reason you were doing what you were doing throughout the game.

It'd make sense too, because once John get killed; Jack and Abigail turn around and go back to the farm, and none of the army is left there. Who knows what would have been waiting for them had they kept going.

reply

Yeah, I still think I could have taken those army guys outside the barn. I didn't obviously. But I got damn accurate with the dynamite.
they just *beep* with the wrong mexican.

Yeah, well I mean it still has that great irony about it, and personally I think it'd be more tragic. John sacrificing his life to protect his family and going out in a hail of gunfire is something he didn't want to do, but had excepted as his likely fate very early on.

Had he managed to pull off the impossible and actually survive, then to have his family get killed. It was basically his past catching up with him, he was doing his best to become a new man and do things right, then he's forced to go back to his old life in the name of the law, in order to save his family. So he does that, thinks all is well and good. Then the G-men come to tie up the final loose end...John and his family. But if John made it out and his family didn't...we have come full circle. Would he stay righteous? Or revert back to being a badguy?

No, if you go to "mission" under "stats" you can replay any level. They kill you in the middle of firing the sequence after about 4 shots

It's not what you're talking about anymore, but I'm just saying that with the Mauser or even the Evan's, its still impossible.

Haha, once again. That's not what we're talking about. But even still, we're saying that IF it was a possibility itd be neat. We're fully aware you can't kill all of them.

For me, I thought it was really ballsy to kill John and make Jack playable. Of course I was sad to see John go, but it brought up some interesting things to think about like nature vs. nuture, cycles of violence, fate, justice, etc. Plus I had played John with very high honor, partially because I liked his character's story so much, so here was a fresh slate to go on murderous rampages with! Plus some of the things he says are kinda sad, reminiscing about his dead family and stuff.

That said, I HATED Jack's voice. It was really grating to me and some of his catchphrases were irritating. "Work, ya damn nag!" Bitch, you're riding an Amercan Standardbreed. That ain't no nag! ;) If Jack had a better voice and less of a whiny attitude, it would've been awesome.

RDR is still one of my favorite games ever. I loved it so much I played it to 100% completion, which I normally never do with R* games.

Jack's alright, I got used to him after awhile. His voice does get annoying, maybe it would have been better if a different actor did the voice for him (as in grown-up Jack). My problem with him was that he came off as a poor man's John Marston or a John Marston-wannabe. Lines like "Just like you showed me Pa." were corny but I love this game overall.

I wasnt a huge fan of Jack either, but on my second playthrough I saved all the stranger missions for Jack and I actually really began to like him when I got more interaction from him. I actually like his "pirate" look. His voice isnt nearly as annoying when hes 19 compared to when hes 16.
