Whoever gets the role of John Marston

He'll be forever known as a badass in the cinema world. Can any of you name any actors today that could take on the role of John Marston?

I have no ideas.

this might seem like a cliche'd choice and what not but i think brad pitt might be able to pull it off well. timothy olyphant comes to mind also.

Josh Brolin? i would certainly love to at least see them audition the part. lol

if this was eastwood in his prime the role would be his

reply

johnny depp, he can put a gothic spin on it and of course tim burton will direct it. also stars helena bonham carter as abigail.

interesting... a Quentin tarantino version sound's awesome as well

reply

Timothy Olyphant. He's got the voice, he's about the right age (~43 years old, looks younger), maybe give him a 5'oclock shadow and a scar and the resemblance would be legit.

josh brolin is great in stuff like this and is the bigger star but i think olyphant would do the job well

reply

Olyphant is awesome, after watching him in Deadwood, I really think he's under-appreciated (plus he's cool in Rango and a pretty slick bad guy in Die Hard). My only concern with him as Marston is that Marston has quite a lot of physical authority. Olyphant always seems like a tough-coz-he's-smart kinda guy, not becuase he's strong. Not saying they need Arnie in the role, just someone a little more intimidating, like Brolin.

What is up homie?

reply

He beefed up for Hitman, so I think if he put on the muscle and got a tan he could do it.

Bring me everyone.

Tarantino did that--it's called Django Unchained. And how would a Red Dead film be different from any other western film that came before it?

Red Dead is interesting because its a western film in the form of a game. Making it a film would simply mean making another western film...

I could see Anson Mount from Hell on Wheels being perfect in the role.

When I first bought the game and started playing, I thought J.M. was voiced by James Remar. And with long dark hair, and some dark stubble he would come close to looking like J.M.

are they really gonna make a movie? seems like a pointless idea because yes it made for a very cool and unique game but as a movie...it'll just be like the other 99% of westerns out there. there's nothing special or different about this storyline, its pretty much "western movie stereotypes : the game".

Timothy Olyphant?

reply

He's not up for it now, but John Marston reminds me of Kurt Russel.

If you have sen Escape from New York , you will get what I mean.

I think Kurt Russel (in his prime) would have been perfect for the role of John Marston.

reply

Christian Bale.

Josh Brolin okay maybe but too old. John Marston I figure was mid 30s at the most.

I could see Anson Mount from Hell On Wheels. He would be perfect.
