Undead Nightmare, worth getting ?

I hear it f'cks up the continuity with Red Dead Redemption and several of the lovable delightful characters get killed off.

How does it end and is it worth getting and is it even cannonical ?!

reply

It takes place after John gets back to the farm but before the ending of RDR. For the most part it ties in with the original but it isn't canon. And if I recall, anyone who dies were characters you you didn't mind dying anyway lol
Some are hilarious.

Daggett: I've paid you a small fortune!
Bane: And this gives you power over me?

reply

Yes! Get it. I look at it as a nightmare that John has... just like the title suggests. I like to stop playing the main game right after John arrives at Beecher's Hope and play Undead Nightmare, then conclude the main game after completing Undead Nightmare.

Regardless of the continuity issues, it's an absolute blast to play and a complete game in itself. I think it's the best DLC ever made, even better than the ones for Fallout 3 and New Vegas (which are excellent.) It's how DLC's should be done.

Awesome, does it require LIVE to be installed ?

I am going to get the game of the year edition for RDR because my original copy broke. Does this mean I will have to start all over again ?

Thanks ! P.S you should try the DLC for Red Faction Guerilla, it's huge.

reply

It should be able to read the save file. I'm a PS3 user, not X-Box, so I don't know anything about LIVE. I assume it's equivalent to PSN, is so then you won't need it for Undead Nightmare.

If I recall, the GOTY version has all the added content on disk. So no need for LIVE.

Will it read your save though?
I'm not sure but I can say I do recall having Arkham Asylum on the 360 then "losing" my copy as I lent it to someone who never returned it (bastard). So I later brought the GOTY edition and I had to make a new save file as this version was not compatible with the original one.

To answer the OP.
The DLC for this game is great (just like GTA IV) about the only DLC worth having. I really hate it when DLC is basically just a few new missions or even worse some new costumes, etc. We used to get this kinds of stuff for free back in the day.
But the UN is like a whole new game. It's not as big as the original, but it's still big enough to warrant a worthy purchase.
Plus is supposed to be viewed as a "what if" scenario, it's not directly linked to the main story.

But yeah, it's definitely worth it if you enjoyed the main game.

And so, God came forth and proclaimed widescreen is the best.
Sony 16:9

I know, totally. It's so annoying I bought the special pre-order bonus of Batman Arkham City when it came out, and because I never got LIVE and didn't know I needed LIVE I STILL HAVEN'T GOT TO PLAY AS CATWOMAN OR ROBIN BOY.

What a rip, I need LIVE just to install a code ? Plus there is a bunch of diffrent costumes but you can't use that without LIVE either.

*beep*'S SAKE !

With the Aliens Colonial Marines game you will get to do all kinds of crazy sh't, weapons, play as characters from the movie Aliens, even play as the damn aliens themselves ! Probably need LIVE for that aswell.

I don't even know if LIVE would work in my house, do we have wifi, ma ? Yep, we do, but where do I cash in my 1-month of free Xbox LIVE ? Do I need to plug my computer into my xbox ? :!:

reply

No you don't need to plug it into a computer just stick internet wire into the back of your Xbox and you get Xbox live silver (you don't need gold to redeem codes but do need a connection to download what the codes give you) and to redeem things push the X in the centre of your controller and push RB all the way left to redeem things I have done it plenty of times with my games (I tend to buy SE versions) and as it's gory not regular version delete your current RDR account as there 2 diff codes if you bought reg version and UN separately you wouldn't have to delete your save

reply

Sorry on cell phone GOTY not gory
