One of the greatest reliefs of this game...

If I recall correctly, is that there's only two (maybe three) racing levels in the main story, and on one of them you're not even required to win. I HATE racing levels. Nothing pisses me off more than when I'm doing fine for a minute, then I take too sharp a turn, wind up in a ditch and am suddenly in 8th place.

For me, any pain in the ass underwater level in any 2-D game has nothing on racing levels in games like this.

I gotta say, I didn't mind the racing in this one, even if they had put more in. The horse race was easy, but the wagon race was kind of annoying.

Agreed. That there wasn't a seemingly abundance of races to get through was a breath of fresh air. They're virtually guaranteed with any Rockstar game that involves grandly thieving autos, but I'd walked into this assuming they'd come up with a list of horse races you'd have to slog through.

Mercifully, there were only a few.

Just buy as many apples and horse pills as possible and use them throughout the race as your horse gets tired, you will kick ass. I'm pretty sure it works on the wagon level too.
